Rhino Tourist Camp

Located on the slopes of the Oloolamuita Hills, this Maasai Mara accommodation offers magnificent views across the eastern reaches of the park. The camp is one kilometer from Ololaimutia Gate and seven kilometers from Sekenani Gate.

The campsite has a total of 70 rooms with the option of single, double, triple, and family occupancy. There are 30 rooms made of stone for guests. The walled rooms are meant for guests who worry about their security and those having children. The remaining units are tented rooms ideal for travelers looking to be true to the wild experience.

The tents are linked by a pathway neatly framed by well-maintained flower bushes, manicured lawns, and flanked by indigenous trees. The rooms are fronted by a private veranda ideal for relaxing and giving one the feeling of truly experiencing the tranquility of the bush. Each suite is fitted with mosquito nets and an en-suite bathroom with showers, flush toilets, and a washbasin.

Program

This is a group safari, but Perfect Wilderness Tours and Safaris will use a Landcruiser jeep which is comfortable and good for offroad driving. The safari begins with pick up from Nairobi at a central location (Muindi Mbingu Street) or pick up from hotels within the Nairobi CBD or westlands area near the highway for easy pick up. You will spend the night in a tented camp which is all ensuite with a bathroom, flushing toilet and bed.

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara

At 8 am, you will be picked up from your hotel within the city center / Westland area and commence the drive to Maasai Mara via the Great Rift Valley viewpoint where you will have a breathtaking view of the floor of the rift valley. Arrive at the camp in time for lunch. Check-in and have lunch.

At 4.00 p.m., depart for a sunset game viewing drive in the Maasai Mara National Reserve where chances of seeing the big cats are extremely high. The tour ends at 6:00 p.m. Return to the camp for a sumptuous buffet dinner ending with a good time for resting. Spend the night in Rhino Tourist Camp or another accommodation with similar quality.

Day 2: Full-day game drive in Maasai Mara Reserve

Have breakfast at 6:30 a.m. and at 7 a.m., you will leave for a full-day game viewing in the park. On this day, spend the full day exploring Maasai Mara in search of the big five, hippos and Nile crocodiles. You will then go for a picnic lunch in the park under a croton tree shade overlooking the vast landscape of the park.

It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place: the great migration. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (in Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna – lions, cheetahs, jackals, hyenas, and vultures.

Day 3: Depart Maasai Mara to Nairobi

Early morning, have breakfast then check out for your drive back to Nairobi. You can visit a Maasai village to learn more about the culture of the local tribe (optional, for an extra cost).

After that, you commence drive to Nairobi. Lunch will be served complimentary to to at a traveler's motel. You will be dropped off at the city center or a hotel within the city center. End of the tour. The tour finishes around 3 to 4 pm depending on the traffic.
