Take a break from your everyday life and join this amazing safari holiday in South Africa. Enjoy nature in all its wild splendor in different nature reserves and national parks, and tour some of the country's various points of interest. This vacation guarantees to get you up close to a stunning world teeming with plentiful game and great adventures. Experience wonderful activities, see breathtaking sights, and embark on, possibly, the most moving journey you’ll ever have.
You will be accommodated in double rooms at the Tremisana Game Lodge (first night) and Marc's Treehouse Lodge (second to fifth nights).
In South Africa, as well as in the rest of the world, indigenous and pristine habitats are vanishing, along with their associated plant and animal species, as human populations grow. Consequently, there is an urgent need among nature enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the bush, affording a fleeting chance to relax and let nature remove the everyday strains of life. This lodge has attempted to offer the bush connoisseur an opportunity to satisfy this need.
Marc’s Treehouse Lodge offers rustic but comfortable accommodation geared to put one in close contact with the sights, sounds, and scents of the wild. The tree houses are made of wood and reeds under thatch, and blend harmoniously into the dense riverine vegetation. Amenities include electric fans, mosquito nets, and comfortable beds, with linen, towels, and soap provided.
Each tree house has its own private ablution areas and a viewing deck overlooking the perennial Klaserie River (“Breakfast Dam"), where animals often come to drink. The tree houses are unobtrusively located on the elevated banks of the river, providing excellent views of the terrain. The lodge is part of the Motlala Game Reserve, which boasts of well-watered grazing for its varied fauna.
White and black rhinos, buffaloes, giraffes, and zebras, along with numerous antelopes, have made the Motlala Game Reserve a real wildlife paradise. Among the predators, leopards and hyenas are more often heard than seen. The nights at the lodge are enriched by the calls of its denizens. The eerie whoops of hyenas, spine-tingling wail of jackals, distant roar of lions, and plaintive cry of thick-tailed bushbabies add an unforgettable aural dimension to one’s appreciation of the bush.
Birds tend to be more vocal than most other creatures. In the thick canopy of the treetops at Marc’s Treehouse Lodge, probably due to restricted visibility, the avifauna is particularly noisy as they warn of predators, call their mates, or proclaim the boundaries of their territories. Among the feathered fraternity at the lodge, colorful specials include the Narina trogon, purple-crested turaco, trumpeter hornbill, Natal francolin and Natal robin.
The early morning cacophony of birdsong is a stark reminder that one is deep in the riverine bush. Also, Marc’s Treehouse Lodge has attracted not only adventure-seeking tourists but many authors and journalists as well. Splendid media articles bear eloquent testimony to the special experience afforded by this unique accommodation.
This lodge was a founding member of the Balule Nature Reserve. It is the largest and leading lodge in this section, having a total of 15 chalets plus a two-bedroom guesthouse. It can accommodate a maximum of 40 guests. Every unit is en-suite with a shower, toilet, and basin, and air-conditioned. The lodge's staff members are from the local villages.
The Tremisana Game Lodge is serviced by two excellent boreholes. Its proximity to the tar road means it is easily-accessible all year round, including the rainy season. The presence of lions, elephants, and buffaloes necessitates the maintenance of an electric fence around the camp.
Perhaps, the most striking feature of the Tremisana Game Lodge is its beautiful gardens. The presence of numerous bougainvilleas and various palms and cycads gives the lodge a subtropical feel. Water features add a soothing effect, and the lodge's overall feel is very relaxing. At night, the subdued light from the illuminated, paved walkways lend a romantic and magical flavor to this outstanding accommodation.
