Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali - City Tour - Transfer to Musanze
Arrival at Kigali International Airport, where you will be welcomed by a guide and transferred for a short Kigali city tour. During the day, you will visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial to learn about Rwanda’s history and resilience. Enjoy a panoramic view of the city from Ubumwe Grande Hotel. Then transfer to Musanze town, located at the foothills of the Virunga volcanoes. Dinner and overnight at Isange Paradise Resort.
Day 2: Musanze Caves and Dian Fossey Memorial
After breakfast, visit the fascinating Musanze Caves, a network of ancient lava tunnels formed by volcanic activity thousands of years ago. Later, continue to the Dian Fossey memorial. Dian Fossey was a renowned primatologist who dedicated her life to protecting endangered mountain gorillas in the Virunga Mountains. Lunch in Musanze and an optional visit to a local market. Dinner and overnight at Isange Paradise Resort.
Day 3: Twin Lakes boat experience - Transfer to Uganda
After breakfast, visit the scenic twin lakes, Lake Ruhondo and Lake Burera. Enjoy a relaxing boat ride surrounded by spectacular views of the Virunga volcanoes and local fishing communities. Later, cross the Kyanika Border Crossing into Uganda and transfer to Kisoro. Dinner and overnight at Ikaze Cottages.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking - Mgahinga National Park
Early morning transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for an unforgettable mountain gorilla trekking experience. After a briefing by park rangers, hike through bamboo forests in search of a gorilla family. Spending time observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat is one of Africa’s most remarkable wildlife encounters. Return for relaxation, dinner, and overnight at Ikaze Cottages.
Day 5: Coffee tour - Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast, enjoy an authentic coffee tour in Kisoro near the DR Congo border. You will learn how local Arabica coffee is grown, harvested, roasted, and prepared using traditional methods, followed by tasting fresh organic Ugandan coffee. Later, proceed to Lake Bunyonyi, one of the most beautiful lakes in East Africa. Optional stop at Echuya Forest Reserve to visit the Batwa (pygmy) community. Dinner and overnight at Bunyonyi Overland Resort.
Day 6: Lake Bunyonyi island exploration
After breakfast, take a boat excursion around Lake Bunyonyi, exploring some of its 29 islands. Visit the famous Punishment Island, where unmarried pregnant girls were historically abandoned. Enjoy swimming, canoeing, or relaxation along the lakeshore. Dinner and overnight at Bunyonyi Overland Resort.
Day 7: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park - Kazinga boat safari
After breakfast, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, famous for its large concentration of wildlife including elephants, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, and many bird species. Dinner and overnight at Bush Lodge.
Day 8: Morning game drive - Transfer to Fort Portal
Early morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park to spot lions, elephants, antelopes, and other wildlife. After the game drive, proceed to Fort Portal, known as Uganda’s tourism city due to its scenic landscapes and proximity to several national parks. Dinner and overnight at Rwenzori View Guest House.
Day 9: Chimpanzee tracking - Kibale Forest
After breakfast, transfer to Kibale National Park for chimpanzee tracking at Kanyanchu Visitor Center. Later, enjoy a community walk at Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, known for birdlife, monkeys, and local cultural experiences. Dinner and overnight at Rwenzori View Guest House.
Day 10: Transfer to Jinja - Source of the Nile
After breakfast, drive to Jinja, home of the legendary Source of the Nile. Enjoy a relaxing boat ride at the Nile source. Dinner and overnight at Nile Explorer Lodge.
Day 11: White-water rafting on the Nile
Experience the thrill of white-water rafting on the Nile River, one of the best rafting destinations in the world. Evening relaxation along the river. Dinner and overnight at Nile Explorer Lodge.
Day 12: Transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
After breakfast, travel to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for an exciting rhino tracking experience on foot. Dinner and overnight at Rhino Lodge.
Day 13: Morning transfer to Murchison Falls
Morning transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via the spectacular Top of Murchison Falls. At 2:00 p.m., boat to the bottom falls and stay at Pakuba for dinner and breakfast. Enjoy a short game drive on the way to the hotel.
Day 14
Enjoy an early morning game drive before continuing to Entebbe International Airport for your evening departure flight, marking the end of your unforgettable Rwanda–Uganda adventure.
