A – Nairobi National Park:

In the early morning after breakfast, you will enjoy a visit to the Nairobi National Park for wildlife and bird watching. This is one of our most interesting wildlife viewing destinations, and only covers an area large enough for a perfect short trip. The park hosts many mammals, including African Lions, Maasai Giraffes, Common Elands, Common Zebras, Nile Hippos, Black Rhinos, White Rhinos and Cape Buffaloes. The park is also a birding haven with many beautiful species. In fact over 500 bird species are recorded in the park. The local Nile Crocodiles are also a very welcome sight. This is Kenya’s oldest National Park, located just 7 kilometres from the edge of Nairobi city center. Nairobi National Park is only 117.21 Km2 in size allowing you to sample it very well on a short safari.

B - David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage

Next you will visit the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. At the orphanage you will learn about the orphaned elephants and how they got to the centre. You will also learn elephant Biology and the threats facing the species. The local education team will also teach about how the orphans are cared for until rehabilitation. Further, you will learn how you can adopt a baby elephant, if you are interested in adopting.

From here you will proceed to a local restaurant, where you will enjoy a scrumptious lunch; sampling local dishes and barbecues.

C - Giraffe Center

After lunch, you head to the Giraffe Centre. This only takes a short drive. At the center you will meet the lovely Rothschild’s Giraffes. You will learn about the breeding program at the center and also about giraffe Biology. You will also get an opportunity to feed the giraffes from your hand, hug and even kiss these lovely “Tall Blondes”.

Location

Your safari tour will take place in Sweetwaters Game Reserve, Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Lake Nakuru National Park, and Maasai Mara National Reserve, all located in Kenya.

Sweetwaters Game Reserve

Sweetwaters Game Reserve is a 90,000-acre private ranch with magnificent views across the plains to the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kenya. This game sanctuary is the closest reserve to Nairobi (two and a half hours' drive) home to all the Big Five game and has the highest ratio of game-to-area of any park or reserve in Kenya.

Its popular waterhole is floodlit by night, providing excellent and secluded rarely seen game viewing. Game drives at Sweetwaters are indeed a pleasure. Game viewing may also take the form of game walks accompanied by the resident naturalist and game rides on horseback. Camel riding, night game drives, and “bush” lunches or dinners are a delight.

The Chimpanzee Sanctuary is the most informative and entertaining and should all be visited while in the game reserve. The Chimpanzee Sanctuary is incorporated within the Ol Pejeta Conservancy and is the only place in Kenya where this highly endangered and remarkably intelligent species can be seen.

Lake Nakuru National Park

Lake Nakuru National Park is dominated by a gentle, undulating terrain with open bush and woodlands, typical of the dry Rift Valley vegetation. The park is 27% composed of the Lake Nakuru waters. The park was declared a rhino sanctuary in 1983. The rhino stocking program that ensued received white rhinos from South Africa. Currently, the sanctuary has approximately 45 black and 31 white rhinoceros.

Maasai Mara National Reserve

Maasai Mara National Reserve is Kenya’s most famous and finest game sanctuary. In the months of June and July each year, the wildebeests in their troops arrive at the Kenyan border, ready to cross the steep banks of the broad and fast flowing Mara River. This crossing is truly the greatest episode of the entire migration. Hot on their heels are the predators of the savannah - lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena, and vultures.

The banks of the Mara River provide one of the best vantage points to witness the drama. The Mara also offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe: over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. You will most likely see the Big Five - lion, rhino, buffalo, leopard, and elephant. Not to mention numerous plain animals.
