Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara

Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi, where you'll set off on a scenic drive through the Kenyan countryside, heading towards the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve. As you travel, you'll pass through picturesque landscapes and traditional Maasai villages, offering a glimpse into rural Kenya.

Upon arrival, check-in at your campsite and enjoy a hearty lunch. The excitement builds as you prepare for your first game drive. In the late afternoon, you'll embark on an exhilarating safari, driving through the vast savannahs and spotting the diverse wildlife that the Mara is renowned for, including the Big Five—lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, and rhino. As dusk falls, you'll return to camp to enjoy a delicious dinner and share stories of your first day’s sightings around the campfire. Dinner and overnight stay at Lenchada Tourist Camp, or somewhere comparable

Day 2: Full-Day Masai Mara

As dawn breaks, you'll venture forth for a day dedicated to the pursuit of wildlife encounters. The Mara unfolds before you, a living diorama where each turn brings new sightings - from the stealthy cheetah to the formidable buffalo. A picnic lunch in the wild offers a moment to savor the serenity, while an optional visit to a Maasai village presents a cultural tapestry rich with tradition (note that this will be at an additional cost). As dusk settles, the campfire beckons, offering warmth and a chance to reflect on the day's sights and sounds over a traditional safari dinner.

Day 3: Masai Mara to Nairobi

After a hearty breakfast at the camp, you’ll pack up and begin your journey back to Nairobi. Reflect on the incredible experiences and wildlife encounters as you drive through the changing landscapes. Arrive in Nairobi in the afternoon, concluding your memorable 3-day safari adventure. This budget-friendly camping safari offers an immersive and unforgettable experience of Kenya’s iconic Masai Mara, providing lasting memories of its diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes.

Location

Maasai Mara National Reserve

This safari tour will take you to Kenya's Maasai Mara National Reserve located in the extreme southwest of the country of Kenya which is on the border with Tanzania. This vast expansive unfenced savannah grassland covering over 1,500 square kilometers is a true wildlife haven. The Mara is also home to the richest concentration of wildlife including the Big Five (elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, and buffalo), zebras, antelope, gnus, oribis, hyenas, giraffes, warthogs, gazelles, hartebeests, hippos, crocodiles, and others.

The park has the largest concentration of African lions including the black-maned lion. Birdlife is as plentiful as wildlife at the Masai Mara which boasts over 400 different birds' species. The reserve’s topography is mainly an open savannah (grassland) with clusters of acacia trees along the southeastern area of the park. The Mara and Talek rivers grace the rolling plains of the reserve. You could spend a month in the Maasai Mara and still enjoy fresh encounters every day.
