The three-day Queen Elizabeth safari offers visitors with one of the best views of the park’s wildlife, seen while on game drives and boat cruises along the Kazinga Channel. You can also head out trekking on a primate walk at the Kyambura Gorge, where you will be sure to see chimpanzees along the trail.
Transport
The standard offering for mid-range tours is a 4WD minibus with a pop-up roof for easy safari viewing. All passengers will have a dedicated window seat. Your professional and courteous driver / guide will be at your disposal for questions or translations.
Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Embark on an exciting journey early in the morning after breakfast to the Queen Elizabeth National Park, seated in the western part of Uganda. Make a stopover in the town of Mbarara, home to the long-horned cattle, for lunch and thereafter, proceed to the park.
The park has prolific game, including Ugandan kob, warthog, and waterbuck. There is also a huge number of hippos and elephants, and keep your eyes open for lions or a leopard. Lions are often sighted both in the park and at the entrance to the park. After the game drive, check into your lodge for dinner and an overnight.
Day 2: Morning game drive and Kazinga Channel boat safari
Get up in the morning and enjoy a hot cup of tea and or coffee before disembarking on an early morning game drive, which will gives you the opportunity of seeing the early risers who come out to hunt before going back to their safe havens. Catch sights of warthogs, buffaloes, leopards, and many others, inclusive of primates like the colobus monkeys.
Return to the lodge for lunch and refreshments. Thereafter, go boat cruising on the Kazinga Channel, which joins Lake George and Lake Edward. See spectacular sights of bird species, flora, and other fauna.
There, you will see a lot of hippos, more than you can possibly imagine, as well as a variety of other animals that come to the waterhole to drink or bathe. You can also expect to see buffalos, crocodiles, bathing elephants, and a range of beautiful birds. This will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of your tour.
Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking and adventure
Have your breakfast early in the morning before checking out of your lodge, then head out on a chimpanzee trek at the Kyambura gorge with your guide. This gorge is still within the park boundaries and will give you stunning views of chimps swinging up and about in trees.
Later, travel back to Kampala to either catch your departure flight or check into a hotel in the city center.
