Accommodation

During this safari, you will stay in various accommodations for 5 nights. All the rooms are en-suite, with clean flushing toilets, toiletries, hot showers, and soaps. Beds are fitted with clean linen. Sleeping bags are not necessary. The accommodations are as follows:

  • Miti Mingi Eco Tented Camp (Maasai Mara, two nights)
  • Golden Palace Resort (Lake Nakuru, one night)
  • Taphe Guest Resort (Lake Naivasha, one night)

Miti Mingi Eco Camp

The camp is situated within the Masai Mara eco-system and on the banks of Ololaimutia River which is a watering point for most of the wild animals especially elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, etc. This small and exclusive campsite comprises of 25 tents.

The tents are furnished with all the amenities required by the modern traveler. Decorated in calming safari tones, natural woods, wrought iron, and crisp cotton each tent has been meticulously planned to maximize comfort. All tents have four-poster beds and mosquito nets, en-suite with shower, WC and flush toilets, hot and cold running water, and electricity with a voltage of 240 volts. There is also a dining rooms on-site.

Golden Palace Resort

Golden Palace Resort has a restaurant, bar / lounge, room service, free high-speed Wi-Fi, and is non-smoking. There are 20 guestrooms comprising of single rooms, double rooms, twin rooms, and triple rooms. Each guestroom has satellite TV, mosquito net, work desk, and seating area. The bathrooms are en-suite with showers. The on-site restaurant serves a wide selection of local and continental dishes.

Taphe Guest Resort

Taphe Guest Resort is situated on a green uphill terrain, with a view of Lake Naivasha from the balcony. The serene and quiet atmosphere provides good rest and recreation for individuals, families, workshops, conferences, parties, and wedding functions.

Mature gardens and green grounds make it ideal to host outdoor events or just for relaxation. There is ample space for sun bathing and camping. The outdoor ground can host up to 80 or more people, and is thus suited for groups holding private meetings, weddings, and parties.

Program

Some of the best game viewings in all of Africa can be found in Kenya most notably the great Maasai Mara. In order to view the greatest amount and variety of wildlife, Jamboree Africa Tours and Safaris provides highly skilled and knowledgeable guides that will tell you about their country, tribal cultures, and wildlife behavior. They will also amaze you with their ability to spot animals that you will have trouble seeing with your binoculars.

If you are patient and observe the interaction of the animals rather than rushing to check off the next animal on your list, you will have an extraordinary wildlife experience. To keep from getting dehydrated, you will need to drink plenty of fluids. Unlimited bottled water is supplied daily in your tent and also in the vehicles for game drives. The transport to the game parks is based on customized seven-sitter safari van with specially modified suspension. Seats are designed with seat belts.

Children are welcome on this safari. Jamboree Africa Tours and Safaris will advise you of any restrictions if you wish to delight your children by bringing them on safari. On game drives, if you have more than one child, you may be required to have a separate vehicle.

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi - Maasai Mara

This morning, you will drive through the dramatic Great Rift Valley to the Maasai Mara National Reserve. This enormous reserve is actually part of the vast Serengeti plains famously known for its spectacular great wildebeest’s migration and is home of the Big Five which includes lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and rhino.

Then, you will have lunch at the lodge and relax before departing for the afternoon game drive. Large mammals are varied, and easy to see at the Mara Game Reserve as it is one of the greatest wildernesses of the world. Residents among the park are Maasai giraffe, buffalo, eland, and thousands of plain game including impala, zebra, topi, both Thomson’s and grants gazelles.

Day 2: Maasai Mara

The search for great predators and perhaps even cubs will continue today during extensive game drives. On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive cheetah and leopard hiding amidst acacia boughs.

Day 3: Maasai Mara - Nakuru

You will enjoy a pre-breakfast game drive between 6:30 and 09:00 after which you will return to the campsite for a hot breakfast. After breakfast, you will proceed to Nakuru. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Golden Palace Resort or which is a budget hotel in Nakuru.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru - Lake Naivasha

After breakfast, you will proceed for a game drive in the rhino sanctuary which is home to a colony of about 25 white and black rhinos. Predators are also resident in the park. Later, you will leave for Lake Naivasha. Lunch will be served at Mai Mahiu.

Day 5: Hell’s Gate National Park - Nairobi

After breakfast, you will go for a morning bird walk with the aim of viewing birds on the shores of the lake with a few hours of relaxation before lunch. Then, you will have an afternoon visit to Hell’s Gate National Park, which is a breeding ground for vultures in Kenya such as Lammergeyer vultures. There are also anticipated species like imperial eagle, schalow’s wheatear, chin spot batis. Then, you will depart to Nairobi to mark the end of your safari.

Location

This safari will take you from Nairobi to Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru National Park, Hell's gate National park, and Lake Naivasha. Kenya is a country that beckons with iconic sights, tribal cultures, and natural wonders. The snow-capped peak of mighty Mount Kenya, the Maasai Mara's golden grassy plains, the pink blush of Lake Nakuru, and the annual migration of millions of wildebeest are some of the delightsof Kenya.

There are many nice shops and galleries in the main cities that carry nice crafts, including basketry, batiks, bead work, masks, and woodcarvings. Gift shops in the camps are also excellent places to buy quality souvenirs. If you like to bargain, you may want to explore the local markets.

Food

You will be served daily meals on this safari. The food will be delicious and ranges from simple to gourmet. You can expect lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, and wonderful homemade soups. Chicken, lamb, beef, or pork is usually served at lunch and dinner as well as fish and vegetarian dishes. Breakfast is a buffet with lots of tropical fruits, hot and cold cereals, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, breads and pastries, and eggs to order. Lunch can be either buffet or served at the table and always starts with soup. Dinner is usually a 4 or 5-course sit-down affair, although there is no need to dress up.
