Accommodation

You will stay at Buhoma Community Rest Camp, Fort Murchison Lodge, Murchison River Lodge, Paraa Safari Lodge, or their equivalents.

Program

Day 1: Arrival | Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

Upon touchdown at Entebbe International Airport, you will be greeted with a warm smile from one of Irembo Holidays Ltd's staff. He / she will help you with your luggage and escort you to the tour van.

Once comfortably seated, you will head on a five to six-hour drive to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda. You will stay overnight either at Buhoma Community Rest Camp, Fort Murchison Lodge, Murchison River Lodge, Paraa Safari Lodge, or their equivalents.

Day 2: Morning game drive | Boat tour to the bottom of the falls

You will have an early breakfast at 06:00 and set off for the game drive. You will encounter animals such as 76 species of mammals, including huge herds of buffaloes and elephants, well-camouflaged leopards, and a healthy population of lions, giraffes, Jackson’s hartebeest, bushbucks, Uganda kob, waterbucks, and warthogs.

There are also 451 bird species in the area, including the blue-headed coucal, malachite kingfisher, red-throated bee-eater, white-browed sparrow weaver, speckle-fronted weaver, and African quail-finch, among others.

After a hot lunch, you will go on a boat tour on the Nile to the bottom of the most powerful falls in the world as the Nile water forces its way through a seven-meter (23 ft) wide gap and tumbles 43 m (141 ft) down, sending around 300 cubic meters per second (11,000 ft³/s) of water over the falls, squeezing into less than a 10 m (33 ft) wide gorge.

It is one of the most fascinating experiences on a safari to Uganda, Africa. Return and rest at your lodge.

Day 3: Boat tour to Delta | Evening or night game drive

In the early morning, after a beautiful breakfast, you may choose to take a lazy boat tour and follow the flow of Victoria Nile to where it empties its waters to pick them up later, passing the great Lake Albert.

This 20km voyage downstream from Paraa is home to rare wetland birds, including shoebill and papyrus endemic species such as the goliath heron, great egrets, African fish eagles, and the rare shoebill, among others. You may spend four to five hours there, especially for those who love bird watching.

You will return to a hot lunch at your lodge. You may choose to take an evening game drive through unvisited parts of the park to catch an animal species not seen the day before or to see them again. Or, you can decide to take a night game drive to experience the lions on the hunt and catch the elusive hyenas as they scavenge to tail the lions.

Day 4: Transfer to Entebbe and departure

After an excellent breakfast, you will take a five to seven-hour drive back towards Entebbe. On your way, you will stop over at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and encounter its priced possession, the northern white rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum cotton).

Other attractions include at least 40 mammal and reptilian species including monkeys, antelopes, hippopotamuses, crocodiles, and numerous bird species.

Depending on the time of your departure, either you will be dropped at the airport in time to catch your flight or Irembo Holidays Ltd will help you find a suitable hotel to rest while you wait for your departure time. Available accommodations include Sunset Hotel, airport guesthouse, and Gately Inn Entebbe.

Location

The Pearl of Africa

Uganda is aptly referred to as “The Pearl of Africa” due to its breathtaking natural beauty, which includes pristine rainforests, majestic snow-capped mountains, shimmering lakes, and vast grasslands.

The roaring Murchison Falls and rich wildlife further enhance its reputation as one of Africa’s most stunning destinations. Uganda is the place where the East African savannah blends beautifully with the West African jungle.

Situated on the equator, Uganda is bordered by Tanzania to the south, Kenya to the east, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west.

Gorilla

Few adventures rival the excitement of tracking mountain gorillas in the verdant expanse of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, one of their remaining sanctuaries.

Prepare for a demanding hike through one of Africa’s ancient jungles. Still, the opportunity to be mere feet away from these incredible creatures, who share approximately 97.7% of human DNA, is truly unparalleled.

Additionally, Bwindi also hosts forest elephants, bushbucks, and a variety of colorful butterflies and birds that thrive in this breathtaking environment.

Vibrant wildlife

While mountain gorillas are the allure for many visitors, there’s an astounding variety of attractions for safari adventure travelers. Although smaller than the United Kingdom, Uganda features a remarkable diversity of landscapes, ranging from towering mountains and vast savannahs to vibrant wetlands and dense forests.

The country is a tapestry of various shades of green, highlighting its breathtaking natural beauty. Its remote and untouched parks are home to a wide array of wildlife, including iconic big game species such as tree-climbing lion, African elephant, white rhino, and buffalo, as well as rivers teeming with hippos.

This nation is celebrated as the primate capital of the world, housing the largest population of chimpanzees on the continent. Such rich biodiversity is complemented by an impressive bird checklist of over 1,100 species, the largest in East Africa, if not the continent.

Culture

Uganda is a dynamic mosaic of culture, influenced by a diverse array of ethnic groups and its neighboring countries. With more than 56 distinct ethnic communities, each brings its own unique traditions, customs, and languages to the mix.

The country has over 41 indigenous languages, with English and Swahili serving as the official languages. Uganda’s cultural heritage is rich with artistic expressions, including language and literature, performing and visual arts, handicrafts, as well as indigenous knowledge, beliefs, traditions, values, and significant cultural sites.
