Amazing Safari in Kenya

Many Kenyan wildlife animals can be seen in Aberdare National Park including African elephant, lion, rhino, black leopard, and the elusive bongo antelope. There are also over 250 species of birds. Two of Kenya's best safari lodges are located in Aberdare National Park – Treetops and The Ark. Both provide excellent game viewing at night over the watering hole. Treetops is one of Kenya's most famous hotels. This is where British Princess Elizabeth was informed that she had become queen in 1952 on news of her father's death.

The Ark

The Ark overlooks a floodlit waterhole and salt lick, which attracts a host of awesome wildlife. Resembling and named after Noah’s Ark, The Ark comprises of three decks from wherein numerous balconies and lounges provide a superb location for wildlife to be seen. So that you don’t miss any animal sightings, the night guard will buzz your room when special animals come to the waterhole. The Ark has four viewing areas for observing the ever-present animal activity. There is also a ground level bunker, the perfect hideout for the discerning photographer. This is a circular pillbox-like structure, and it is from this vantage point that pictures of animals on the salt lick only yards away may be taken through the view holes in complete safety.

Treetops

Located in the Aberdare National Park, the Treetops Lodge Nyeri tree-house lodge on stilts is famous as the place where Queen Elizabeth II visited as a princess and left as queen. Originally built in 1932, Treetops Lodge lies in the path of an ancient elephant migratory route between the Aberdare Ranges and Mt Kenya National park, and is strategically sited right in front of a natural watering hole and salt lick, making it the perfect place to view the game.

Treetops is as much a part of nature as it has an ancient tree growing right through the hotel, with the lodge being built around it. It is the perfect fusion of nature and comfort sporting a rustic look that fits right into the Aberdares. The lodge has 32 standard rooms and three suites which make it one of the best accommodation lodges Nyeri has to offer. It also has a family room for guests who would like to spend some time watching television.
