Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
Arrive at Entebbe Airport at 8:00 a.m., your guide will pick you up. Go for refreshments at a nearby hotel or mall and drive to Murchison through Kampala capital city. Pass by Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for amazing Rhinos, have lunch, and proceed to Murchison Falls National Park, have evening tea as you wait for dinner. Overnight at Murchison River Lodge (full board).
Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise at Murchison Falls
After breakfast at 8:00 a.m., start your game drive with prospects to see giraffes, elephants, hartebeests, antelopes, lions, Uganda kobs, and many others. Come back to the lodge for lunch, and then take a launch cruise along the Nile River, one of the interesting attractions of a visit to the park. Have a short trek at the Bottom of the thundering falls where you will view crocodiles, a variety of water birds like herons and Kingfishers, and schools of hippos, elephants, and buffaloes. Overnight stay at Murchison River Lodge (full board).
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park
Take your breakfast and drive into Kibale Forest National Park to hike. A guide will enlighten you on the primates you are to see as well as the forest plants and animals. This morning hike will expose your eyes to chimpanzees, phoestes, red colobuses, and red-tailed and grey-cheeked Mangabeys. Return to the lodge for lunch, and in the afternoon, visit Bigodi swamp, an astonishing place to watch rare and gorgeous flora and fauna.
All day drive south via Hoima to Fort Portal through verdant countryside and past traditional homesteads and farms along Albertine Rift escarpments. Fort Portal rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Overnight at Kibale Forest Lodge (full board).
Day 4: Chimps tracking in Kibale National Forest Park
Take your breakfast and drive into Kibale Forest National Park to hike. A guide will enlighten you on the primates you are to see as well as the forest plants and animals. Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Start the day with breakfast and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Check into your lodge and have lunch. Go for a boat excursion along the Kazinga Channel for a prospect to see hippos at close range, crocodiles from the boat, and buffalo in the shallow waters. Kazinga Channel shoreline is home to a collection of birds like the pink-backed pelicans, fish eagles, pied and malachite kingfishers, saddle billed storks, and many more. Dinner and overnight: Elephant Hub Lodge. Full board: breakfast, lunch, and dinner).
Day 6: Kyambura Gorge hike and chimps tracking
In the morning, your guide takes you to Kalinzu forest for your chimps trekking experience and Kyambura Gorge hiking. Bird watching is part of the safari. Private viewing of black and white monkeys, giant forest hogs, and red-tailed monkeys. When you get back from the trek your guide takes you to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon visit the crater twin salt lakes where you will meet wild game grazing including crocodiles, elephants, boffolas, and Uganda kobs. Overnight at Elephant Hub Lodge.
Day 7: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Forest
Start the day with breakfast. Go for a game drive through the park where you will see tree climbing Lions on the Ishasha side of the park, Elephants, Leopards, Buffaloes, Hyenas, and an assortment of antelope types on your way to Bwindi National Forest and lunch will be served on your way. Overnight: Bakiga Lodge (full board).
Day 8: Gorilla tracking day
Have breakfast and go for Gorilla tracking. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park inhabits almost half of the world’s 650 mountain gorillas. Start climbing early with a tracker even though seeing gorillas depends on their day’s movements. Gorillas are naturally reserved and non-violent animals. And it’s a memorable and thrilling moment to watch them and possibly photograph these mild giants at a close range. Return to the hotel for lunch and relaxation. Here you may visit the community and do shopping for works of art and return in the evening for overnight and dinner at Birdnest Bunyonyi (full board).
Day 9: Transfer to Kampala / Entebbe
After breakfast, you start the journey back to Kampala. Make a stop along the way for lunch in Mbarara or Masaka depending on time. You have now reached the end of your Chimps and Gorilla safari and your guide drops you in Kampala / Entebbe.
