1 Day Non-Residential Mokoro Safari in The Okavango Delta, Botswana

Mokoro safaris are a popular way for tourists to visit the delta. The mokoro adventure takes you to the tip of the Okavango Delta, where you will witness a combination of aquatic game, amazing bird species, breathtaking landscapes, tranquil sunsets, and amazing stargazing; all in all, summed up in one word, unforgettable. Depending on the water level, you will board the boat near Audi Camp at 7:00 a.m. and head along the Boro channel on a motor boat to Boro Mokoro Station where you will be met by your boatman, known as poler. The mokoro is ideally suited as transport in the delta as you will move quietly through shallow waters. You will visit the Eastern delta in a community-controlled wilderness area.

Xaa Safaris works with some of the most experienced polers who have mastered the channels as well as being astute in coexisting with aquatic wildlife. You will break for lunch and stretch your legs on one of the islands, a nice short treat. It is truly a great soothing experience. You will set up a lunch picnic on an island to enjoy breathtaking views. After such a once-in-a-lifetime experience, you will head back to the Mokoro station, where your engine-powered boat will pick you up for a trip to Maun to arrive before sunset. Alternatively, you will be picked up by a car if the water levels are too low to use the boat from Mokoro station to Maun.
