Day 1: Antananarivo
A member of the Safari Madagascar team will welcome you to the hall of the international airport of Antananarivo. Please look out for a sign with your name after you exit from the restricted area with your luggage. The guide will take you to your private vehicle for transfer to your hotel. Overnight at Palissandre hotel or Le louvre (4 stars).
Day 2: Antananarivo - Andasibe
You start the journey to the east and drive along National Road Number 2, the main commercial road of the country. The ride will take 3 hours and a half (150 km). It is a great opportunity to see the sights and discover the Malagasy lifestyle and architecture along the way.
You visit The Peyreras farm before getting to Andasibe. This private reserve is renowned for its reptile. It was founded by the French entomologist and naturalist André Peyreras. The collection includes many reptile species (chameleons, geckos, and frogs), and lemur species.
Night walk to Andasibe: The driver and the guide will accompany you for the night walk from 6 p.m. to see chameleons and other nocturnal lemur species like Mouse lemurs.
Overnight at a lodge (bed and breakfast).
Day 3: Mantadia National Park special
After breakfast, let’s visit Mantadia National Park. It is located 14 kilometers from Andasibe village. On a dirt road, visit the primary forest. Then hike for 3 hours to discover the famous Black and white Ruffed lemur, Red Bellied lemur, and Common Brown Lemur.
The park also has some excellent bird watching, including chances of seeing the Pitta Like Ground Roller, and Scally Ground Roller.
After the visit, drive back to the lodge. Don’t miss the visit to Andasibe village where you can see the lifestyle of the local people of Andasibe. You'll have several chances to interact with local villagers and see how they make a living and spend their free time.
At nightfall, you go for a night walk with your private guide to spot the smallest lemur called mouse lemur, and other species of chameleon. Overnight at the lodge.
Day 4: Visit Analamazaotra
Visit Analamazaotra National Park, a fantastic place for lemur watching. You leave the hotel at 7.30 a.m. and start to spot the lemurs in their natural habitat. Analamazaotra is home to Indri Indri, the largest lemur species or “Babakoto”. Then, hike for 3 or 4 hours to discover other lemurs species such as Sifaka, and brown lemurs, and watch birds.
Vakona Island is an island surrounded by freshwater. It is home to various species of lemurs. The Vakona reserve is where you can see other species of lemurs and touch them. It is possible to see: Eastern bamboo lemur, Black and white Ruffed lemur, and Ring-tailed Lemur.
You will have a very good opportunity to take photos as souvenirs. The photos will be the results of that visit. Overnight at the lodge.
Day 5: Andasibe - Manambato - Palmarium
After breakfast, you drive to Manambato. Go on a winding route. Over a green landscape, numerous fruit stalls can be seen along the road. At the junction close to Brickaville, you take a bumpy road for 7 kilometers to go to the lake of RAVELOBE where a boat will wait for you for the transfer to Ankany ny Nofy (the nest of dreams) through the artificial channel. These channels were made by the local people during the French rule.
Ankany ny Nofy (nest of dreams) is located between the Indian Ocean and the Pangalane Channel. The ferry will take you 1 hour 30 mins. Free leisure in the afternoon.
At night, you’ll get on the speed boat and go to visit for a nocturnal visit to see the Aye Aye.
Night visit to Palmarium
The Aye Aye (Daubentonia Madagascariensis) is one of the most endangered lemur species. Being a nocturnal species, it is considered by the local people "evil." Butchered by the local people for the meat, this lemur species become endangered and close to extinction. Not long ago some Aye Aye species were spotted in the Palmarium Reserve. The remaining species are protected within this area. This guided tour offers a unique opportunity to see this rare lemur.
After this visit, you will return to the lodge.
Day 6: Palmarium Reserve
After breakfast, you will go for a hike with your guide to visit the private reserve of Palmarium. It’s an easy hike and really a nice place for a walk especially to see the Indri Indri, Macaco lemurs, Black and white ruffed lemur, and a plant endemic to the country called Nepenthes, the famous carnivorous plant.
Free leisure in the afternoon.
Day 7: Palmarium - Andasibe
Free leisure in the morning and transfer back by boat to Manambato. Then, you drive back to Andasibe. Overnight at Andasibe (breakfast included).
Day 8: Andasibe - Antananarivo
After breakfast, you leave the Andasibe region and drive back to Antananarivo.
Day 9: Antananarivo
City tour! If time allows, you will visit the Ambohimanga Palace. It’s a UNESCO world heritage. This is the authentic house of the famous King of the highland, Andrianampoinimerina. It means "the noble in the heart of the people to the Highland". He was the king who wanted to unify the country during the begging of the XVII century.
After the visit, drive to the souvenir market then according to your flight schedule, you are transferred to the airport. End of the service.
