You will be mesmerized by the amazing landscape of wonderful Madagascar such as the rainforest of Andasibe and Ranomafana passing by the canyon of Isalo and the terraced rice field of the highlands. Accommodation

You will stay in various accommodations provided by Safari Madagascar.

Program

Day 1: Transfer

A member of the Safari Madagascar team will welcome you and bring you to your hotel. He will give you the written program and some information you should need during the trip. Overnight to Palissandre (4-star) or Le Louvre (4-star).

Day 2: Ifaty

The driver will pick you up and drive you to the airport for a flight to the South of the country. On your arrival, another driver will pick you up and drive you to your lodge and you can start for the activities to visit the spiny forest to discover the fauna and flora of the area. Overnight to Dune d’Ifaty or Paradisier (3-star).

Day 3: Ifaty

After breakfast, let’s discover the spiny forest in the morning as nature awakes. See some species of birds include the Long Tailed Ground Roller, Archblod’s Newtonia, Sub-Desert Mesite some reptile species, and lemurs. This place is very good also for snorkeling to see the natural aquarium. Free leisure afternoon and overnight to the same lodge on BB.

Overnight to Dune Ifaty or Paradisier.

Day 4: Ifaty - Ranohira

You leave the coast and drive to the Northern to visit Isalo National Park. On the way, you can see some baobab. You will then stop at Zombitse Nation Park. This deciduous dry forest attracts people for its strange adaptation between the dry forest and the humid forest. The number of animal species living here is remarkable. Eight species of lemurs such as the Verreauxi Sifaka, Red-fronted brown lemur, and some 85 bird species include the rare birds such as Appert’s Tetraka, Giant Couas, and Cuckoo Roller.

After the visit, you continue your way to Ranohira, passing through the rush village of sapphire called Ilakaka. Overnight at Relais de La Reine (3-star) Or Jardin du Roi (3-star).

Day 5: Visit Isalo National Park

With a local guide, Safari Madagascar chooses the destination carefully for you. You’ll hike to discover the lunar landscape. You will impress by the oasis, canyon, and fall. This environment was created during the Jurassic period and the vegetation adapt to this circumstance as the Pachypodium Rosulatum. This place also is the native habitat for the rare bird called Forest Rock Thrush (Pseudocossyphus bensoni). You can find also some species of lemur as Ring Tailed Lemur (Lemur catta) and White Fronted Brown lemurs. After the hike, drive back to the lodge.

Overnight at Relais de La Reine (3-star) Or Jardin du Roi (3-star).

Day 6: Ranohira - Ranomafana

Today you drive to the rainforest of Ranomafana. On the way, you are going to stop for a visit to Anja, a community-run reserve to see some family of Ring Tailed lemurs. In Ambalavao, you stop to visit a handmade paper factory where you can learn the process to produce Antaimoro paper. The process is introduced by the Arabic people a long time ago, but they still keep it the same way until now. This place is famous also for its winery.

Overnight to Setam the lodge or similar.

Day 7: Visit Ranomafana

Today, with the local guide, you will discover the rainforest of Ranomafana. This park is located in the southeastern of the country with 41,600 hectares, the home of several rare species of flora and fauna. Various scientific publications have been published about this park. Several species of birds can be seen including the Pitta Like Ground Roller, Scaly Ground Roller and some Other species of Vanga birds can be seen. The highlight of this visit is lemurs such as The Golden Bamboo Lemur, and Milne Edward’s Sifaka common brown Lemur. In the evening, you'll go for a night walk to spot the smallest primate species called Mouse Lemur, and some varieties of chameleons.

Overnight to Thermal hotel.

Note: Close by, there's a park research station called ValBio established in 2003 and managed by Stony Brook University. This center helps the local people with health and education.

Day 8: Ranomafana - Antsirabe

After breakfast at the lodge, you come back to the famous road RN 7 and drive to the North to join the highland. You'll see the terraced rice paddies scenery, passing by the capital of woodcarving handcraft where you have to spot to visit some workshops of wood carvers. Overnight at Plmeria or similar.

Day 9: Antsirabe - Andasibe

Before you leave Antsirabe, you should have a short visit to this city where the Moroccan King Mohamed V was exiled in 1955. Have a quick stop to visit the handcraft of zebu horn to make jewelry, spoons, and others. After the visit, drive to Andasibe National Park which will give you the Malagasy highland scenery mountains typical villages, and locals working on the field.

Visit Pyereras reptile farm to see some collection species of chameleons and geckos. Founded by the French entomologist and naturalist André Peyreras, the collection includes Flat tailed geckos, Golden Mantela, and Parsons Chameleon, the largest Chameleon.

Overnight at Mantadia lodge or similar.

Day 10: Visit Andasibe National Park

You will visit Analamazaotra. In order to have the best observation conditions, you will leave the hotel at 7:30 a.m. You will look for the largest species of lemur called Indri Indri or the Malagasy name Babakoto. This lemur is endemic to the site. Through an easy hike lasting about 3 hours, you search for other species of lemurs as Sifaka and common brown lemurs, and also birds.

After lunch, you continue to the lemur site Vakona Island. This is a rare opportunity to get up close and interact with these primates. After the visit, drive back to the lodge. Overnight at Mantadia lodge or similar.

Day 11: Andasibe - Manambato

After breakfast, drive to the Eastern part of the country to join the lake of Ravelobe where the boat will wait for you for the transfer to Ankany ny Nofy (the nest of dream) through the artificial channel dinged by the Malagasy people during the colonial period. Ankany ny Nofy is located between the Indian Ocean and the Pangalane Channel. The ferry journey will take 1 hour and 30 minutes. Free leisure in the afternoon and afterward you will go for a night visit to see the nocturnal and exclusive Aye Aye or Daubentonia madagascariensis. This kind of lemur was hunted by the local people for meat and caused by belief because It’s considered "evil."

Overnight at Palmarium.

Day 12: Visit Palmarium Reserve

After breakfast, you go to the jungle to discover other kinds of lemurs through an easy hike lasting about 2 to 3 hours. It’s really a nice place for a walk, especially to see the Indri indri, darker Macaco lemurs, Black and white Ruffed lemur, and the famous carnivorous plant endemic to the country called Nepenthes. Free leisure in the afternoon. Overnight at Palmarium.

Day 13: Ankany Ny Nofy to Anatananarivo

After breakfast, you take the boat to turn back to Manambato then drive back to Andasibe. On the way back, you can have several opportunities to take photos of the local lifestyle. Overnight at Palissandre (4-star) or Le Louve (4-star).

Day 14: Transfer to the airport

City tour to Antananarivo. If the time allows, you will also drive to the souvenir market, then be transferred to the airport. End of service.

Location

The safari journey will take you to some places in Madagascar. Outside Asia, Madagascar has the longest history of rice production. Wetland rice production systems are well-developed and rice terraces are frequently found along the roads between Antananarivo and Antsirabe. The Isalo National Park is a protected area of Madagascar which is declared a national park in 1962.

Tsingy Bemaraha is an impressive spiny mountain - an amazing landscape of limestone. Saint Marie, Ifaty Anakao will offer you an opportunity for snorkeling and diving. In the morning, you can see the local people on their fishing trip. Baobab Avenue has huge trees as roots in the sky and is very famous for sunset over these endemic trees. Of the nine species of baobabs registered in the world, seven of them are endemic to Madagascar.
