Day 1: Antananarivo
Transfer from the international airport, a representative will welcome you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. Overnight at Palissandre Hotel or similar.
Day 2: Antananarivo to Andasibe
After breakfast at the local restaurant you will ride to Andasibe. Leave the Analamanga Region and drive along National road 02 into the East. Enjoy the breathtaking landscape along the way. On the way, you can see the beautiful landscape of the highland. Trail along the winding roads and after a few hours on the main road, then, visit the Pyereras Reptile Park, famous for endemic frogs and leaf-tailed geckos.
After the visit drive to Andasibe where you will stay overnight at the Lodge Andasibe hotel or similar (luxury hotel)
Day 3: Andasibe
Enjoy breakfast and afterward visit Andasibe National Park to watch the indri-indri or babakoto, the largest lemur species. Discover other lemur species and birds such as Madagascar paradise flycatcher, crested drongo, and others. You will enjoy a hike that will last a few hours, then enjoy local specialties for lunch.
In the afternoon, drive to Vakona reserve. The Vakona reserve is famous for its endemic lemur species which can be looked at closely, including Eastern bamboo lemurs, black and white ruffed lemurs, etc. Here you will have the chance to also spot numerous crocodiles, which used to belong to a former farm.
Drive back to the Lodge Andasibe Hotel or Sahatandra River or similar (luxury hotel).
Day 4: Andasibe to Palmarium (140 kilometers)
Drive to Manambato. Sail to a speed boat and transfer to Palmarium. The whole trip lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes. In the afternoon relax at your convenience. In the evening take a boat ride for an exclusive visit to the aye aye.
The aye aye (Daubentonia madagascariensis) is one of the most endangered lemur species. Being a nocturnal species, it is considered by the local people evil. Butchered by the local people for meat, this lemur species become endangered and close to extinction. Not long ago some aye aye species were spotted in Palmarium Reserve. The remaining species are protected within this area. This guided tour offers a unique opportunity to watch rare lemur species.
Overnight at Palmarium or Palmarium Beach or similar (mid-range bungalow).
Day 5: Visit Palmarium Reserve
Enjoy your breakfast at the local restaurant then, explore the Palmarium Reserve with your guide and watch other lemur species including the coquerel’s sifaka and macaco lemurs. After the visit, walk back to the lodge. Overnight stay at the lodge (in a bungalow).
Day 6: Palmarium - Manambato - Andasibe
Have breakfast and transfer into the boat from the Palmarium reserve. Drive to Manambato to enjoy the sights and the splendid landscape Drive to Andasibe and overnight at Andasibe Hotel / Sahatandra River or similar (luxury hotel).
Day 7: Andasibe to Antsirabe (310 kilometers)
Eat breakfast and then drive to Antsirabe. Take pictures of the farmers working in the fields along the way to discover the aluminum foundry in Ambatolampy. Learn how people recycle car gearboxes and other materials into cooking pots and other stuff. Then drive to Antsirabe. Stay overnight in Antsirabe at Plumeria (luxury hotel).
Day 8: Antsirabe - Ranomafana
Tour the city by rickshaw. Discover the unique architecture of the area. Explore the outstanding handicrafts displayed at various workshops. Discover toy cars, bicycles, and trucks made from recycled tins and cans. Enjoy decorative art and crafts. Then head to Ambositra, the city of Malagasy handcrafts. Discover the famous Zafimaniry wood carving art. You will have lunch in Ambositra with folkloric music, then drive to Ranomafana forest. Check into your hotel room.
At around 6:00 p.m. take your headlight and embark on the nocturnal viewing of chameleons, frogs, and the famous mouse lemur. Overnight to Setam Lodge or similar (luxury bungalow).
Day 9: Visit Ranomafana Park
With your private guide you’ll explore Ranomafana National Park. Ranomafana is located in the southeastern parts of Madagascar with 41 600 hectares of tropical rainforest. The park was established in 1991 with the purpose of conserving the unique biodiversity of the local
ecosystem. It is home to rare species of fauna and flora including golden bamboo lemurs, Milne Edwards sifaka, and other lemur species. Also, some species of rare birds such as pitta like ground-roller, short-legged ground-roller, and brown mesite can be seen. The flora and fauna of Ranomafana have been subject to extensive scientific research. Just close to the park, established in 2003, there is the ValBio research station managed by Stony Brook University is focusing on biodiversity, community health, and education.
You will stay overnight at Setam Lodge or similar (luxury bungalow).
Day 10: Ranomafana - Antsirabe
You will continue to visit Ranomafana to see other creatures in the forest. After the visit, drive back to Antsirabe. You will be in Antsirabe at nightfall. Overnight in Antsirabe Plumeria Hotel or similar.
Day 11: Antsirabe Transfer Abroad
Drive to the city. If the time allows drive to the souvenir market and after you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home.
