Night 1: Panafric Hotel

Nestled in the midst of beautifully landscaped gardens a few minutes away from the humble buzz that is Nairobi's Central Business District and 20 minutes away from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Sarova Panafric is a 4-star luxury hotel whose idyllic location allows for an immersive city experience without compromising on comfort and tranquility. Night 2: Nairobi National Park / David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage / Giraffe Center

A – Nairobi National Park:

In the early morning after breakfast, you will enjoy a visit to the Nairobi National Park for wildlife and bird watching. This is one of our most interesting wildlife viewing destinations, and only covers an area large enough for a perfect short trip. The park hosts many mammals, including African Lions, Maasai Giraffes, Common Elands, Common Zebras, Nile Hippos, Black Rhinos, White Rhinos and Cape Buffaloes. The park is also a birding haven with many beautiful species. In fact over 500 bird species are recorded in the park. The local Nile Crocodiles are also a very welcome sight. This is Kenya’s oldest National Park, located just 7 kilometres from the edge of Nairobi city center. Nairobi National Park is only 117.21 Km2 in size allowing you to sample it very well on a short safari.

B - David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage

Next you will visit the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. At the orphanage you will learn about the orphaned elephants and how they got to the centre. You will also learn elephant Biology and the threats facing the species. The local education team will also teach about how the orphans are cared for until rehabilitation. Further, you will learn how you can adopt a baby elephant, if you are interested in adopting.

From here you will proceed to a local restaurant, where you will enjoy a scrumptious lunch; sampling local dishes and barbecues.

C - Giraffe Center

After lunch, you head to the Giraffe Centre. This only takes a short drive. At the center you will meet the lovely Rothschild’s Giraffes. You will learn about the breeding program at the center and also about giraffe Biology. You will also get an opportunity to feed the giraffes from your hand, hug and even kiss these lovely “Tall Blondes”.

Night 3: Sarova Lion Hill Lodge

Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge is nestled along the Lion Hill overlooking the spectacular flamingo pink-rimmed Lake Nakuru. Its location affords panoramic views of the lake and the picturesque Lake Nakuru National Park. A short two-hour drive from Nairobi, Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge is a favorite with residents and visitors to Kenya.

Program

Day 1: Arrival - Nairobi

Representatives will meet you at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transfer you to Panafric Hotel in Nairobi for an overnight stay. Depending on your arrival time, the team will be at hand to arrange an optional Nairobi city tour or a game drive to Nairobi National Park.

Day 2: Nairobi City Tour

Day 3: Nairobi - Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park

Depart Nairobi after breakfast for Lake Nakuru National Park with a brief stopover at the Rift Valley viewpoint for a morning view of the Majestic Mt. Longonot and the breathtaking view of the Rift Valley. Arrive in Lake Nakuru National Park and proceed directly on a game drive before lunch break.

After lunch, proceed on another optional game drive. Lake Nakuru bird life is world-renowned and offers over 400 species of both aquatic and terrestrial birds. Lake Nakuru animals include Black and White Rhino, buffalo, leopard, lion, Rothschild’s giraffe, White and Black Colobus monkey, eland, steenbok, impala, Chandlers Reedbuck, dik-dik, rock hyrax, klipspringer, hippo and clawless otter. Return back to your accommodation in Lake Nakuru National Park.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru National Park - Lake Naivasha

After an early morning game drive, return to the lodge/camp for breakfast. Depart by road for Lake Naivasha. The accommodations are located right by Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake.

Visit Elsamere, the former home of the late Joy Adamson who, together with her husband George, became world famous for their pioneering conservation work and relationship with the lioness, Elsa, as told in her best-selling book and subsequent film: Born Free. Lunch at the lodge. Take an optional boat ride to Crescent Island.

Many different types of animals are found on the Island as you take a walk with the expert resident naturalist. Giraffes, waterbucks, wildebeest, Gazelles, Impala, and Dik-diks can be seen during the walk. Later, retire back to your cozy accommodations in Naivasha

Day 5: Lake Naivasha - Masai Mara Game Reserve

This morning, depart the hotel after breakfast and drive through the dramatic Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara Game Reserve. This enormous reserve is actually part of the vast Serengeti plains famously known for its spectacular great wildebeest migration and is home to the Big Five: Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo, and Rhino.

Lunch at the lodge and relax before departing for the afternoon game drive. The Mara Game Reserve is one of the greatest wildernesses in the world. Large mammals are varied and easy to see. Residents of the park are Masai Giraffe, Buffalo, Eland, and thousands of plain game including Impala, Zebra, Topi, both Thomson’s and grants Gazelles. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 5: Full day in the Masai Mara Game Reserve

Your full day in the Masai Mara Game Reserve will be spared for the search for the big cats of the Masai Mara and the spectacular view of the famous migration. All of the “Big Five” animals (elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, and buffalo) can be spotted here. Herds of plains zebras are found throughout the park.

Other animals include giraffes, jackals, gnus, warthogs, gazelles, hartebeests, hyenas, bat-eared foxes, Topi antelope, hippos, and crocodiles in the Mara River. For bird lovers, the Mara birds come in every color and size. More than 400 bird species have already been recorded, including birds of prey.

You can enjoy a colorful view of birds such as vultures, ostriches, long-crested eagles, pygmy falcons, secretary birds, marabous, red-winged Schalow’s turacos, and many others.

Day 6 & 7: Masai Mara Game Reserve - Nairobi

If you are not participating in the optional hot air balloon, enjoy morning tea/coffee or hot chocolate followed by a morning game drive. On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive Cheetah and Leopard hiding amidst acacia trees. Return back to the lodge for breakfast. Relax until after lunch then embark on the afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 8: Masai Mara - Nairobi

Morning game drive with an Optional visit to an authentic Masai village (at an extra cost) to witness the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. Return to the lodge for full breakfast then Depart the Mara by road back to Nairobi arriving in the late afternoon, with lunch en route.

Lake Nakuru National Park

The safari begins with a journey to Lake Nakuru National Park, renowned as a bird sanctuary with over 400 bird species, it is an excellent park for wildlife spotting and is home to many water-loving animals such as hippos and waterbucks. Other animals present in the park include waterbucks, warthogs, impalas, buffalo, Rothschild giraffes, elands, endangered black rhinos, white rhinos, and, occasionally leopards.

Lake Naivasha

Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake and is part of the Great Rift Valley. The name derives from the local Masai name Nai’posha, meaning “rough water” because of the sudden storms which can arise. The lake is home to a variety of wildlife; over 400 different species of bird have been reported. This freshwater lake is a birding paradise. There is a sizable population of hippos in the lake.

Masai Mara National Park

The Masai Mara provides the best view of the famous wildebeest migration as the animals cross the Mara River between July and August. The Mara is also home to the richest concentration of wildlife, including the “Big Five” (elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, and buffalo), zebras, antelope, gnus, Oribis, hyenas, giraffes, warthogs, gazelles, hartebeests, hippos, crocodiles and others.

The park has the largest concentration of African lions, including the black-maned lion. Bird life is as plentiful as wildlife at the Masai Mara, which boasts over 400 different bird species.

Things to do (optional)

Balloon Safari

Special about this adventure is that the balloon will fly over the areas that are limited to safari vehicles. Sometimes, the balloon will fly closer to the earth, giving a closer view of different animals, and other times, the balloon will fly at a higher altitude so the guests can see miles ahead.

Masai Village Visit

While on safari, you can add a special cultural moment by visiting with these nomadic people in their nearby villages comprised of mud-thatched structures called bomas. Here, you can meet and learn about their lifestyle, their customs, and ceremonies. This may well be the standout experience of your safari adventure.
