Day 1: Into the Wild North – Welcome to Samburu

• Depart Nairobi early and journey north through changing landscapes—from lush highlands to the dramatic semi-arid beauty of Samburu National Reserve
• Arrive in time for lunch at the inspiring Umoja Women’s Camp, a community-run sanctuary founded by Samburu women. Here, your stay directly supports women’s empowerment and education initiatives
• Afternoon game drive
• Explore the reserve, home to the unique “Samburu Special Five”: Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, and gerenuk
• As the sun sets over the Ewaso Nyiro River, elephants gather along its banks—a breathtaking welcome to the north
• Dinner and overnight at Umoja Women’s Camp

Day 2: Full Day in Samburu – Wildlife and Culture

• Wake up to birdsong and the golden light of northern Kenya
• Morning safari adventure
• Venture deep into Samburu National Reserve in search of: lions resting under acacia trees, leopards along the riverine forests, large elephant herds crossing dry riverbeds

Cultural experience

Spend time learning about Samburu traditions directly from the women of Umoja:

Day 3: From Samburu to Ol Pejeta Conservancy

• After breakfast, depart for Ol Pejeta Conservancy, located between the foothills of Mount Kenya and the Aberdares
• Check in at Comfort Gardens Hotel, a cozy and welcoming base in Nanyuki town
• Afternoon conservancy visit
• Enjoy your first game drive in Ol Pejeta, famous for: the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, chimpanzee sanctuary (the only one in Kenya), and Big Five sightings
• With Mount Kenya as a backdrop, wildlife photography here is spectacular.
• Dinner and overnight at Comfort Gardens Hotel

Day 4: Full Day in Ol Pejeta – Conservation in Action

• After breakfast, spend a full day exploring Ol Pejeta Conservancy
• Highlights: visit the Endangered Species Boma; learn about rhino conservation efforts; spot lions, elephants, buffalo, hyenas, and possibly cheetahs; optional visit to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary
• Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush or return to town for a relaxed afternoon
• As evening falls, return to Comfort Gardens Hotel for dinner and rest

Day 5: Farewell Kenya

• After breakfast, depart for Nairobi with scenic views of Mount Kenya along the way
