The Fish Eagle Safari was much better than I had expected. Everyday brought some amazing aspect whether it was the quiet mornings on the Zambezi River, blazing sunsets, hippos everywhere, Zambian fishermen in their handmade mokoros, beautiful birds, etc. Going to sleep looking at the stars from my tent while listening to the calls of the hippos echoing across the water is something else. The best part was the unexpected appearances of elephants, especially the group of 7 that crossed the channel to our island, checked out our camp, then moved on. Seeing them still there behind our camp in the morning was just another one of the thrilling aspects of this trip. For a camping trip the food was surprisingly good, fresh tasting, had variety, and was nicely presented. There was a safety brief at the beginning of the trip and each day there was a discussion of what we would do the next day, how to act and react in the various situations. I always felt safe and had every confidence in the guides who seemed to have comprehensive knowledge about every animal, bird, plant and insect there is. The office staff were extremely helpful in not only booking the trip, but also in providing advice on pre and post trip transportation and accommodations. This trip is one that I will never forget.
