Accommodation
Masai Mara Sopa
Famous for the abundance of lion, the Great Wildebeest Migration, and the Maasai people, well-known for their distinctive custom and dress, Maasai Mara is, without a doubt, one of Africa’s most famous safari destinations.
Located high on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills, Masai Mara Sopa Lodge was one of the first safari lodges to be built in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, a reason why its gardens and trees are so lush and mature.
All the buildings follow the design of traditional African round houses with conical roofs, and these stretch along the line of the hills with the impressively large public area buildings and swimming pool at their center.
Program
Day 1: Lake Naivasha
Arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), met by the safari representative and briefed on the daily activities. Proceed to Lake Naivasha and reach there in time for lunch. Enjoy the evening game drive at 4 p.m. and drive to the shores of the lake to view wildlife. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 2: Masai Mara
Depart Naivasha after breakfast and drive through the floor of the Rift Valley to the world-famous Masai Mara Game Reserve, arriving at Zebra Plain Camp in time for lunch. At 4 p.m., enjoy an afternoon game drive in the reserve. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 3: Masai Mara
Full day in the reserve with both morning and afternoon game drives at 6:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. respectively. The Mara is the northern extension of the Serengeti and its rolling plains are home to hundreds of plains game together with predators that feed on them. All meals and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge.
Day 4: Nairobi
Back to Nairobi and enjoy lunch at the famous "Carnivore Restaurant". The Carnivore is justifiably referred to as Africa’s greatest eating experience; twice been voted among the world’s 50 best restaurants by a UK-based restaurant magazine. The Carnivore is an amazing open-air meat specialty restaurant that has strikingly different food service and atmosphere from any other restaurant in Kenya.
Whole joints of meat - legs of lamb and pork, haunches of exotic meat, rumps of beef, sirloins, racks of lamb, spare ribs, sausages, chicken wings, skewered kidneys, even crocodile, and other tasty morsels are roasted on traditional Masai swords over a huge visually spectacular charcoal pit that dominates the entrance of the restaurant. Later, take your flight back home.
