Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Your gorilla tracking adventure begins with a scenic transfer from Kigali International Airport to the magnificent Volcanoes National Park, located approximately two hours (116 kilometers) northwest of Kigali. As you travel through the stunning Rwandan countryside, you will witness the breathtaking landscape of rolling hills and lush vegetation. Upon arrival at your lodge near Musanze (Ruhengeri), you will check in and prepare for your upcoming gorilla tracking expedition. The lodge offers beautiful gardens and opportunities to relax, with optional activities like coffee tasting or exploring the local surroundings.
Day 2: Gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National Park
An early morning start marks the pinnacle of your gorilla tracking experience in the renowned Volcanoes National Park. After a briefing at the park headquarters in Kinigi, you will embark on an exhilarating trek through the misty mountain forests in search of mountain gorillas. Gorilla tracking requires patience and stamina, with hikes potentially lasting two to six hours depending on the location of the gorilla families. Your experienced park rangers will guide you to a specific gorilla group, ensuring a safe and respectful encounter with these magnificent creatures. Day 3: Transfer to Kigali International Airport

About the safari
During this three-day gorilla tracking Rwanda tour, upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your dedicated Gorilla Pathfinders driver guide. They will provide you with a brief overview of your safari itinerary and then transfer you to Volcanoes National Park. Before departing Kigali, you will enjoy a short city tour, including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Following the tour, you will check in at the lodge. They look forward to welcoming you to Rwanda.
