By road from Dar es Salaam, the trip takes roughly five hours via Kibiti. The first two hours are traveled on tarmac, while the remaining time is on a poor conditioned dirt road.
Day 1 - Drive to Selous Game Reserve
Get ready for a morning drive to Selous Game Reserve, arriving at the camp in time for lunch. Then, you can enjoy an afternoon boat safari on the mighty Rufiji River. Boating along one of the rivers of the Selous is a great way to see hippos, crocodiles, elephants, waterbucks, and buffaloes along the riverbanks. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the camp.
Day 2 - Explore Selous Game Reserve
Today, you will take part in a full-day game drive with picnic lunches. Alternatively, you may decide to take a walking safari, which is possible and offers a totally different experience to game drives. Approaching animals on foot is a completely different experience than doing it in a vehicle. It is also a chance to get close and personal with some of the finer details of the African bush, like birds, trees, and plants.
You can also extend your walking safari into a multi-day walking safari and walk from point to point, camping along the way.
Day 3 - Drive to Dar Es Salaam
Get ready for an early morning pre-breakfast walking safari, returning to camp for late breakfast. The rest of the morning is at leisure. Later, you will drive back to Dar Es Salaam.
