Program

Experience the thrill of trekking through the lush forests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This tour is ideal for those looking to begin their journey in Kigali and trek in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Unlike longer Uganda gorilla safaris, Galactic Safaris' two-day gorilla trekking Uganda adventure begins and ends in Kigali, Rwanda, with a short four to five-hour drive.

The route includes crossing the border from Katuna to Kabale or from Chanika to Kisoro, eventually connecting to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a lush and protected forest area in Southwestern Uganda.

Day 1: From Kigali border crossing to Bwindi National Park in Uganda

Galactic Safaris will pick you up at Kigali airport in Rwanda. Before leaving Kigali, you will have a city tour and this will include visiting the museum, the Kigali genocide site, and Kimironko market - one of the biggest markets in Kigali (optional).

After the city tour in the modern Kigali capital, settle for a leisurely lunch and then head to Katuna / Chanika border to cross to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park over a four to five hours’ drive journey. En route, enjoy the breathtaking view of both Rwanda's exceptional landscape and that of Uganda characterized by rolling hills.

Day 2: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Gorilla Trekking and departure

Enjoy a hefty breakfast, and afterwards, leave the lodge with the right attire and boots, ready for your gorilla trekking adventure. It will be a long day of searching for mountain gorillas (about two to six hours). High energy-giving snacks and bottled water are essential.

The actual search for gorillas will commence at 08:00. After a briefing and the allocation of gorilla groups, the park guide will lead you through dense Bwindi Forest, known for its rich biodiversity, towering trees, and thick vegetation that makes it feel like a whole other world.

When you meet the Silverback and its members, you will have one hour to enjoy the magical encounter and take pictures. It will be your opportunity to observe these amazing creatures up close. It’ll be a once-in-a-lifetime chance to watch them play, interact, and go about their day, so keep your camera ready for those unforgettable shots.

After this incredible experience, you'll hike back to the starting point, from where you will be escorted back to the lodge for refreshments. Enjoy a moment to unwind, then check out and return to Kigali for departure, reflecting on the unforgettable memories you’ve made in Bwindi. You can also stay at the hotel for an additional night at an additional cost.
