Itinerary

Day 1: Melbourne to Great Ocean Road

Enjoy the stunning scenery of the Great Ocean Road and discover the remarkable rock formations of the iconic 12 Apostles. Stop by the Surf Coast, for morning tea at the Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie and sample some sweet treats. You will discover some of the world’s tallest trees as you explore the ancient and beautiful rainforest of the Great Otway National Park. Learn about the tragic tale of the shipwreck coast, visit the hidden beach of Loch Ard Gorge, and the iconic 12 Apostles. During our journey, we will stop to see native Australian wildlife. Arriving late at night, we settled into our accommodation for the night.

Day 2: Grampians to Melbourne

Your day begins early in the morning with a visit to Boroka Lookout, Reeds Lookout/Balconies, which has excellent views of the rugged terrain of the Grampians National Park. An area rich in Aboriginal culture as well as beautiful bushland teeming with Australian wildlife, such as ems and kangaroos. Besides the many hiking trails that are available, there are majestic waterfalls that are sure to leave you with lasting memories. In the afternoon, we make our way back to Melbourne, after an incredible 2 days exploring the coastline and inland mountain ranges, arriving sometime after 5:30 in the evening.

Location

Short break escape down the Great Ocean Road and to regional Victoria where you spend the night in accommodation at the Grampians.

Glass bottom boat on the Ningaloo Reef with Coral Bay Ecotours

Try a tour of the Ningaloo Reef on a glass bottom boat. Learn about the tropical and temperate fish and corals you see under the glass. Choose between a one, two, or three hours' journey.

The one-hour is glass viewing only, the two-hour journey includes viewing through the glass and a snorkel site, while the three-hour includes viewing through the glass, snorkeling, and a visit to the turtle sanctuary where you can view turtles feeding and coming up for air in the shallows. Your skipper can even try to get the turtles under the glass for you. Snorkel tours include equipment. This tour is available from 38 AUD each.

Kalbarri abseil

Start the day with adventure by abseiling down the gorge walls in Kalbarri National Park with Kalbarri Abseil. No previous experience is necessary as full training will be provided onsite. All equipment is also provided. Get photos on your own camera as guests not participating can take photos for you! This tour is available for 40 AUD each for two descents.

Scuba dive in the Navy Pier with Dive Ningaloo

The Navy Pier Exmouth has been voted as one of the top 10 dive sites in Australia and one of the top shore dives in the world. The dive is to a maximum depth of 15 meters and strong currents mean that dives can only be completed during slack tide. Therefore, dive times will vary day to day. Search for nudibranchs, scorpion fish, octopus, and eels.

Huge groupers, sea snakes, grey nurse sharks, reef sharks, and wobbegongs are commonly seen there also, as well as a beautiful array of fish and corals. There is a 50 AUD Navy entrance payable in cash only on the day (included in the pricing). All equipment supplied. As it is an active military site, participants must be certified, have a photo ID, and have taken a dive within the last six months. The diving costs from 190 AUD.

Scuba dive in the Ningaloo Reef with Exmouth Dive Centre

Explore the underwater world during two reef dives with Exmouth Dive Centre. There are numerous dive sites to choose from and these will be selected on the day based on conditions. Tours typically run from 07:30 until 16:30. See amazing coral formations, beautiful fish, reef sharks, turtles, nudibranchs, eels, and more during your two dives. All equipment is provided. The scuba diving costs from 210 AUD.

Swim with manta rays on the Ningaloo Reef with Coral Bay Ecotours

Enjoy a five to six hours' tour of the Ningaloo Reef with Coral Bay Ecotours. The day includes all equipment, including a short length wetsuit if required, morning and afternoon tea, and a buffet-style lunch of cold meats and salads. Enjoy the underwater dance of the manta rays as well as two reef snorkels where you will see beautiful fish, corals, and possibly sea turtles and reef sharks. They’ll also make a visit to the turtle sanctuary where you can view turtles coming up for a breath in the shallows. This tour is available for 165 AUD each.

Whaleshark / humpback whale swim with Kings Ningaloo Reef Tours, seasonal from August to September

Enjoy an unforgettable day out on the water. Start the day with a reef snorkel where you can enjoy the beautiful coral gardens and fish. You may even spot some turtles or reef sharks! Then, head out in search of humpback whales and whale sharks with the help of a spotter plane.

The humpback whale swim is dependent on the willingness of the whales to be part of the tour. In the event where the whales are uncooperative, the plane will search for another group. Should a whale shark be spotted on the day, guests can also upgrade their ticket to include a whale shark swim for an additional 110 AUD. All equipment is included as well as a wetsuit if required. Morning and afternoon tea and a buffet-style lunch supplied also. This experience is available from 295 AUD.

Whaleshark swim with Kings Ningaloo Reef Tours, seasonal from March to July

Get set for an unforgettable day as you head out to swim next to the biggest fish in the sea, the whale shark! This is truly a once in a lifetime experience and one that you will never forget! Start the day with a reef snorkel where you can explore the coral gardens and view beautiful fish.

You may even spot a sea turtle or reef shark! Then, experience the awe of swimming alongside the whale shark which is typically five to 10 meters in length. All equipment is provided, including a wetsuit if required. Morning and afternoon tea and a delicious lunch are also included. This experience is available for 395 AUD.
