Manyara Wildlife Safari Camp lies along the 600-meter Rift Valley Escarpment over the river basin overlooking the lake itself. The camp is divided into cabins and safari tents, offering visitors a range of options for accommodations. It is located a short drive from Arusha and is also accessible from Kilimanjaro Airport.

There are 10 tents and 8 double story cottages. The setting of the tents and cottages allows guests to have an open experience of a wilderness camp. Each tents and cottages are identical in designs and amenities offered. The tents and cottages are expansively designed beneath the traditional roofing of “Nyasi.”

The interior wall partitions separate the bathroom, which offers both hot and cold showers and the bedroom area which is fitted with a king-size or twin or triple bed flanked by twin side tables with lamps. Furniture is traditional and obtrusive, imitating the traveling camps of old.

Program

Day 1: Lake Manyara National Park

Pick up from your hotel in Arusha at 9:00 a.m., meet driver-guide for briefing, then drive with picnic lunch to Lake Manyara National Park (about 135 kilometers) for a full day game drive. Lake Manyara is home to giant fig trees, acacia woodlands, mahogany trees, and grassy flood plains. The contrasts of this area are simply breathtaking, with the open plains, huge escarpment, soda lake, dense woodlands, and distance volcanic peaks.

Animals such as elephant, hippo, impala, giraffe, warthog, wildebeest, blue monkey and buffalo can be seen. This park is also home to the famous tree-climbing lions and leopards.

Lake Manyara National Park provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife with over 400 species having been recorded within the park's boundaries. Highlights include pink-hued flamingoes, herons, storks, and pelicans. Dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Wildlife Camp.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater

After early breakfast, drive into Ngorongoro. Descend 610 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater floor for six hours game viewing with picnic lunch. Spot the endangered black rhino, lion, elephant, zebra, buffalo, wildebeest and other wild animals.

Also in Ngorongoro Crater Soda Lake, you will see many species of birds including flamingos. All these animals, in turn, support large predators such as lions, leopards, and scavengers such as hyenas and jackals. Dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Wildlife Camp.

Day 3: Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, drive with picnic lunch to Tarangire National Park. Tarangire National Park covers 2,600 square kilometers and in dry times, the concentration of animals rivals that of the much better known Serengeti. The game numbers are staggering; for instance, 30,000 zebras, 25,000 wildebeests, 5,000 buffaloes, 3,000 elephants, 2,500 Maasai giraffes and over 1,000 fringe-eared oryx’s (gemsbok). Predators include lions, cheetah, and leopards.

Also, flocks of birds can be found include green wood hoopoes, fisher lovebirds, white-bellied go-away birds, and giant kingfishers. Late evening drive back to Arusha.

Location

Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara has a considerably different landscape from any of the other parks. Picture lush woodlands and the beaches of this Rift Valley soda lake, where giraffe, elephants, and wildebeest enjoy an endless supply of water. You will often see these enormous animals in the water, sitting, sipping or just cooling off.

Due to this unique habitat, there are hundreds of bird species able to live in the forests and the ultimate site-seeing prize of this area is the tree-climbing lion. It is the only place you can practice night game driving within the park boundaries.

Ngorongoro Crater

The Conservation Area is a fine blend of landscapes, people, wildlife and Africa's main archaeological site. The Ngorongoro Crater is regarded as a natural wonder of the world (the 8th) and has been declared a World Heritage Site. It is the largest intact crater in the world and is teaming with wildlife, with virtually all the big game species found here, including zebra, wildebeest, black rhino, antelope, elephants, giraffe, buffalo, lion, cheetah, and leopard.

The area is also an ornithologists’ paradise, with thousands of flamingos wading in the shallows of Lake Magadi and hundreds of other species of birdlife.

Tarangire National Park

This park is known for its elephants. You will see these enormous creatures travel in families and you surely will not miss the extraordinary care they take of their young. The elephants tend to travel in packs and in the same paths as they have taken year after year. When they see your vehicle coming closer, they will gather around their young to protect them and lead them on their way.

Tarangire River winds through the middle of the park providing nourishment for the animals and great viewing for visitors. Daily large herds of animals and birds gather around this river so you will be sure not to miss anything. It also boasts many Baobab trees, impressive trees that can live for thousands of years. Animals can be found in the rainy seasons, but the concentration of wildlife tends to be better during the dry seasons.
