During this retreat, you will stay at multiple chalets and camp sites. For day one, you will stay in Lusaka, for day two and three, you will stay in Central Kafue National Park. During day four and five, you will stay in Southern Kafue National Park. As for day six and seven, you will stay in a lodge in Livingstone. For day eight, you will camp in Zambezi River, Ngonye Falls National Park.

As for day nine, you will stay overnight in Mongu. During day 10 to 13, you will stay in Liuwa Plains National Park. As for day 14, you will stay overnight in Mongu again and for day 15, and 16, you will stay in Northern Kafue National Park. For day 17, you will stay overnight in Lusaka.

Upon arrival at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN), you will be welcomed by Zamsato and you will transfer to the lodge and finalize the details of the Kokomo Safari. The safari’s route includes two nights in Lusaka and two nights in Central Kafue National Park.

The following two nights in Southern Kafue National Park, two nights in Livingstone, one night in Zambezi River, Ngonye Falls National Park, two nights in Mongu, four nights in Liuwa Plains National Park, and two nights in Northern Kafue National Park.

Day 1: Lusaka

Upon arrival at Lusaka International Airport (LUN), Zomasto will welcome you and you will be transferred to the lodge where we do the final preparations for the Kokomo Safari. Kokomo means wildebeest in the Lozi language. You will stay overnight in a chalet. Today’s meal plan include dinner.

Day 2 to 3: Chunga Area / Central Kafue National Park

After breakfast, you will start your kokomo safari. You will head west and enter the Kafue National Park through the Nalusanga Gate. The Kafue National Park is the largest national park in Zambia. It is bigger than Slovenia. The lifeline is the Kafue River.

The animals will concentrate near the remaining waterholes and along the river during the dry season. Everything can be found here except the rhino. You will explore the area on game drives. An optional boat cruise is also possible. For these nights, you will be camping. The meal plan includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 4 to 5: Nanzhila Plains / Southern Kafue National Park

You will move on to the southern part of the Kafue National Park. This area is dominated by the Nanzhila Plains, a big open area where lion, cheetah, roan, sable, and antelopes can be found. This area is home to the rare endemic black-cheeked lovebirds or else known as Agapornis Nigrigenis. You will explore the area on game drives. For these nights, you will be camping. The meal plan includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 6 to 7: Livingstone

You will leave the Kafue National Park and head to Livingstone, the tourism capital of Zambia. You have two nights here, just enough time to see the Victoria Falls, do rhino tracking in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park or just to relax. For these nights, you will be staying in chalets. The meal plan includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 8: Sioma / Ngonye Falls National Park

You will drive along the mighty Zambezi River. Your next stopover is the Ngonye Falls at the Zambezi River. You will visit the falls and explore the surrounding areas. For the night, you will be camping. Today’s meal plan include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 9: Mongu

Mongu, the capital of Western Province overlooks the Barotse Floodplains. You will get some fresh supplies and refuel for the next part of your kokomo safari. For the night, you will be camping. Today’s meal plan include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 10 to 13: Liuwa Plains National Park

You will drive across the Barotse Floodplains towards Kalabo. You will then register at the African Parks office and after crossing the Luanginga River, you will drive into Liuwa Plains National Park. Over the next few days, you are going to spend your time on game drives in search for the wildebeest and spotted hyenas, African buffalo, and lion that were reintroduced into the Liuwa Plains National Park. For these nights, you will be camping. The meal plan includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 14: Mongu

You will leave Liuwa Plain National Park and head back to Mongu. Again, it is time to restock and refuel. For the night, you will be camping. Today’s meal plan include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 15 to 16: Kafue National Park

You will head east to enter the Kafue National Park again. You will then explore the northern part of the Kafue National Park. For these nights, you will be camping. The meal plan includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 17: Lusaka

Today, you will reach Lusaka and will close the big circle around Western Zambia. You will finish your kokomo safari here. For the night, you will stay in chalets. Today’s meal plan include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 18: Departure

Transfer to the airport and flight back home or continue to your next destination.

This safari will take place in Central Kafue National Park, Southern Kafue National Park, Livingstone, Ngonye Falls National Park, Mongu, Liuwa Plains National Park, and Lusaka in Zambia.

During the safari camp, you will be served with daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Please book your flight to arrive at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN). Transfer from and to the airport is included. Zamsato will pick you up from the airport.
