Ximongwe Safari Camp is fully off the grid with minimal ecological impact on our surroundings and guests will be advised to use the eco-friendly amenities supplied throughout the camp. The design of the safari camp includes thatch, canvas, and wood and truly contributes to the African look and feel of the camp. The canvas can be rolled up in all areas, giving you a 360-degree view of the African bush.

The main area, consisting of a communal lounge with three private lounges overlooking a watering hole with animals frequently visiting. A self-help minibar and coffee/tea station are available. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner can be served in the main dining area in true safari style with drinks at the bar, or in the boma with a traditional African campfire.

A deck overlooking the Drakensberg can also be used to serve meals. The safari-style tent units comprise of elevated treetop tents with mosquito net windows, white linen, reading lights and fans. A fully equipped dressing area and bathroom with running hot water, hand washbasin, shower, towels, amenities, and safari-style cupboard are situated underneath the tents.

Two private family bathrooms are situated close to the tents where you can laze in a luxury foam bath whilst enjoying the African bush. A viewing deck overlooking the watering holes will be the place to spend your days relaxing and enjoying the frequent movement of animals quenching their thirst.



Day 1: Arrival at the camp

Early pick up from OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) and transfer to Ximongwe Safari Camp. You will arrive in time for dinner at Ximongwe Safari Camp. Enjoy the serenity and wildlife of the waterhole at the small and private Ximongwe Safari Camp, accommodating six people maximum.

Day 2: Morning or afternoon game drive

Morning or afternoon game drive in Parsons, Balule Game Reserve that host the Big Five and is part of the Greater Kruger National Park. Enjoy the peaceful setting of Ximongwe Safari Camp with its abundant wildlife.

Day 3: Boat safari

Early departure to the Olifants River for a boat safari. Enjoy lunch while afloat on the Olifants River with its abundance of wildlife. Depart to Greater Kruger National park at midday with a game drive to the private camp’s accommodation. Enjoy the wildlife and birdlife of the private camp and dinner under the stars.

Day 4: Full day game drive

Early departure for a full day game drive and brunch on the way. Return to Ximongwe Safari Camp in time for dinner.

Day 5: Morning or afternoon game drive

Morning or afternoon game drive in Parsons, Balule Game Reserve that host the Big Five and is part of the Greater Kruger National Park. Enjoy the peaceful setting of Ximongwe Safari Camp with its abundant wildlife.

Day 6: Departure from the camp

Breakfast at Ximongwe Safari Camp and midday transfer to OR Tambo International Airport (JNB).

Ximongwe Safari Camp is situated on the Parsons Nature Reserve in the Mopani region, approximately 40 kilometers north of Hoedspruit with the mighty Olifants River bordering the southern boundary of the reserve. Parsons Nature Reserve forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park.

This unspoiled corner of South Africa is renowned for its abundance of wildlife, mountainous scenery, indigenous forests, cascading waterfalls, and diverse cultures. Ximongwe River Camp is an owner-managed camp, offering comfortable accommodation and excellent service.

Other interesting (and nearby) centers include: Phalaborwa, Tzaneen, Modjadikloof and Giyani. As well as local Big Five game viewing, Ximongwe Safari Camp offers easy access to the bordering Kruger National Park.

Other attractions include excellent bird watching, adrenaline-pumping adventure activities, the Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre, Khamai Reptile Park, Echo Caves, and Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre to name just a few.

The Phalaborwa Gate is only 44 kilometers away, enabling Ximongwe Safari Camp to offer excursions into the Kruger National Park as a day trip or an overnight stay. Guests with their own vehicles can go on a self-drive excursion into the Kruger Park and be back in time for a boma dinner.
