This perfect road-trip safari experience offers relaxation and stimulation in equal measure! Enjoy the richness of Tanzanian wildlife in Arusha National Park followed by a descent into Ngorongoro Crater, which is also home to all of the Big Five and abundant resident wildlife. Finally, marvel at the wildebeest calving season in the endless expanses of southern Serengeti.
You will be staying in the following accommodations during this safari:
Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be warmly welcomed by a Wito Africa private vehicle and driver, who will transfer you to your boutique accommodation in Arusha for a pre-safari briefing and overnight stay. Kick off your adventure of a lifetime with an exquisite fine dining experience. Your butler will then show you to your room where you will spend two nights.
After a delicious breakfast, your Wito Africa safari guide will greet you and take you to Arusha National Park, where you will enjoy an exciting game drive and exploration. The Arusha National Park is home to the highest concentration of giraffes of any park in Africa, as well as Tanzania's second highest mountain, Mt. Meru (14,977 feet).
Known for its stunning scenic views and its Ngurdoto Crater, Arusha National Park will give you a good introduction to the thrilling family adventures of the northern safari circuit. At the Momella Gate, an armed ranger will be waiting to accompany you on your walking safari, which will give you the chance to experience the wildlife up close.
You will have a picnic lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive through the pristine areas of the Arusha National Park. Return to your accommodation in Arusha for dinner and an overnight stay.
After a leisurely breakfast, your Wito Africa safari guide will greet you at the lodge and transfer you in the direction of the Great Rift Valley to the Crater Highlands, for a taste of culture.
Your guide will take you to a local Maasai village, or perhaps to the FAME Africa Hospital, where you will meet the people who started this local hospital in order to help the people of Tanzania (you could choose to visit a school, orphanage, village, hospital ... whatever most interests you!).
In the late afternoon, transfer to the lodge that borders Ngorongoro Crater for relaxation and an overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, you will descend with your private safari guide to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater, where you will find spectacular scenery (arriving nice and early gives you the best chance of witnessing the predators returning from their overnight hunts) and game viewing in what has been described by UNESCO as the eighth wonder of the world.
Ngorongoro is a collapsed volcano - an incredible natural amphitheater, 25 kilometers across, and teeming with more than 30,000 protected animals, including all members of The Big Five.
Depart from the lodge with a picnic so that you can maximize your time in the Crater. In the late afternoon, return to your lodge for sundowners and relaxation before your scrumptious dinner.
After a leisurely breakfast, your Wito Africa safari guide will transfer you to the heart of the Serengeti National Park through green plains of Ndutu and Kusini. Appreciate the vastness of this true wilderness with a gentle game drive as you make your way to your luxury tented camp for overnight.
Immerse yourself in your unique surroundings, followed by sundowners and a campfire under the starry African skies, and all capped off by a delicious dinner. You will enjoy the next two nights in this amazing, secluded area of the park, viewing African wildlife by day and enjoying the calls of the animals from the comforts of your intimate luxury camp at night.
Enjoy unlimited full day game drives and exploration in the Serengeti. As an optional activity why not take an unforgettable flight over the Serengeti in a hot air balloon?
Depart the heart of the Serengeti for the vast green plains of the southern Serengeti. Your Wito safari guide will continue to show you the wonders of the Tanzania’s wilderness and home to Africa’s big cats. Enjoy your all-inclusive stay at Lake Masek Tented Lodge.
Enjoy your final morning in Ndutu area by following up on a certain lion pride that you may have discovered, or simply discovering a new area to game drive. Exit the southern Serengeti through Oldupai Gorge / Shifting Sands. At Oldupai Gorge, you will get a chance to take in a breathtaking view of the archaeological sites (and visit the museum) where early human tools and fossils have been found.
Enjoy a picnic lunch, and then continue on with a road transfer to your own arranged accommodation in Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your self-booked international flight. Upon arrival at the airport, gather your luggage and proceed to your departure lounge to board your flight for your journey onward. End of service.
Please note that Wito Africa Safaris also offer highly personalized safaris to fit well with client's interests, travel style, budget, and expectations.
This safari tour will take you from Arusha to Arusha National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and Serengeti National Park in Tanzania.
A popular day trip from Arusha, before embarking on your main safari circuit, this small national park offers a calm and quiet space for enjoying the richness of Tanzanian wildlife. At a laid-back pace, you can take the time to look up into the canopy and spot the acrobatics of the rare black and white colobus monkeys, as well as playful blue monkeys, and the dazzling colors of turacos and trogons.
If the three-day trek up Mount Meru isn’t for you, you can enjoy a relaxing exploration of its lower slopes, along trails that wind around crystal clear mountain streams and cascading waterfalls. The tranquil greens and blues of the Momela Lakes often provide a backdrop for thousands of vibrant flamingos, as well as a rich diversity of migrant waterfowl, and both giraffes and zebras graze on the grassy hills.
There may be no lions to see here, and elephants are uncommon, but you might be lucky enough to see some elegant leopards and spotted hyenas in the early morning and late afternoon.
The slopes, summit, and ash cone of Mount Meru dominate this small park, as well as lush highland forests of ancient fig trees. When the clouds clear on the eastern horizon, you might even get a glimpse of the snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro.
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area was founded on a vision to promote conservation, protect the interests of local communities and encourage tourism, combining nature conservation and human development in a unique way.
Its crowning glory is the Ngorongoro Crater, which is the largest un-flooded and unbroken caldera in the world. A spectacular bowl of about 20 kilometers across and 600 meters deep, this cavernous volcanic crater is a breathtaking natural wonder that will leave you speechless.
Standing on the rocky rim and looking down at the crater floor, you have the highest density of wildlife in Africa at your feet. The varied habitat, including grassland, swamps, forests and Lake Makat (Maasai for “salt”), attracts species of all kinds, while you can simply gaze on in wonder.
Most notably, the Ngorongoro Crater gives you one of the best possible chances of seeing the endangered Black Rhino as this protected idyll is one of the few places where they continue to breed and thrive. You might also be lucky enough to see leopards, majestic black-maned lions, and flocks of flamingos.
Serengeti National Park is undoubtedly the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world and is home to the greatest concentration of plains game in Africa. Endless savannah plains, dotted with acacias, meet lush forests and dense bush around the Grumeti River, playing host to one of the oldest ecosystems on earth.
The resident population of lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, crocodiles, wildebeest, zebras and hyenas - not to mention the birds - never disappoints, and with such an unparalleled volume of wildlife, you’re bound to stumble upon something spectacular around every corner.
During this safari, your daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included in the price. You will also be served house wine, beer and spirits, soft drinks, bottled water, tea, coffee, and juices.
