Udzungwa Mountains National Park

The Udzungwa Mountains National Park is a sumptuous forested reserve, a rare tropical forest that is home to a realm of unique plants, birds, and animals. These forests are remarkably unspoiled, a wilderness of extremely beautiful woodland routes with no driving tracks at all that bring walkers to the spectacular 170 meters drop of Sanje Waterfall with colorful and long ranging views of up to 100 kilometers across the Kilombero valley and mosaic of grasslands from the top. Furthermore, the park is home to an important population of primates as well as the grey-faced sengis.

Mikumi National Park

The open horizons and abundant wildlife of the Mkata flood plain, ”the mini Serengeti”, which is the popular centerpiece of Mikumi National Park, draws frequent comparisons to the more famous Serengeti plains. Commonly seen animals are elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, wildebeests, elands, crocodiles, hippos, baboons, lions, and leopards. Over 300 spices of birds seen are saddle-bill storks, hammerkops, malachite kingfishers, lilac breasted rollers, yellow-throated longclaw eagles, etc. Another attraction is the hippo pools where you can watch hippos wallowing and snorting at close range.
