All bandas can accommodate four people in two separate rooms, making it convenient and family-friendly. The bandas, as well as the lounge, dining area, and bar, overlook the well-attended waterholes in front of the camp.

The camp's open-air restaurant looks out over the plains and gives guests wonderful panoramic views. The bar is a marvelous place to sit and watch the sunset. Day 1: Dar es Salaam - Mikumi National Park

At around 7 a.m., you will have a meet-and-greet session in Dar es Salaam, then drive for about six hours and with packed lunch to Mikumi National Park. Animals commonly seen in the area include the elephant, giraffe, zebra, antelope, wildebeest, eland, crocodile, hippo, and baboon. If you are lucky, you may also see the lion and leopard. Another attraction in the park are the hippo pools, where you can watch hippos wallowing and snorting at close range.

Over 300 species of birds are seen in the park as well, including the saddle-billed stork, hamerkop, malachite kingfisher, lilac-breasted roller, yellow-throated longclaw, bateleur, and others. Enjoy a late-afternoon game drive with sunset viewing, and watch the animals drinking water at the hippo pool. Your dinner and overnight stay will either be at Mikumi Tanapa Cottages, Camp Bastian Mikumi, or Mikumi Wildlife Camp, depending on your booking.

Day 2: Mikumi National Park

After breakfast, enjoy a full day of game driving in the park, complete with packed lunch. Your dinner and overnight stay will still be back at the camp or lodge that you booked.

Day 3: Mikumi National Park - Dar es Salaam

After breakfast, you will drive back to Dar es Salaam, again for about six hours and with packed lunch. You will be dropped off at either your hotel for the night, the seaport, or Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) for your flight home.

If you are interested and have enough time, an extra and optional walking tour to a local Maasai village can be arranged for an additional 20 USD per person. It takes 45 minutes to walk one way, and you are given an hour to spend with the Maasai people and their morning activities such as milking cows. You will depart at 6 a.m., and are expected to be back by 9:30 a.m for your drive back to Dar es Salaam.

This safari will take place in Mikumi National Park in Tanzania. It is located north of the Selous Game Reserve, surrounded by open grasslands and mountain ranges, and covers an area of 3,230 square kilometers. The open horizons and abundant wildlife of the park's popular centerpiece, the Mkata Floodplain (also known as the "mini-Serengeti"), draw frequent comparisons to the more famous Serengeti plains.
