You will have a new experience each day as you set to explore the magnificent wild life in natural surroundings. The journey offers you the luxury of allowing the rhythms of nature to dictate the passage of your days with the options of hiking, walking safari, game drive, and boat safari!
This camp is in the buffer zone of Selous Game Reserve, situated right on the banks of the Rufiji River and is four kilometers from Mtemere gate. This camp has its own quality, lovely environment and it offers 14 self contained rooms which are located on the banks of the Rufiji River, which is one of the largest water systems in East Africa.
All rooms are comfortable, clean, and spacious. There are three different types of rooms available:
These camps are smaller as compared to the other accommodations, but with their stylish design they offer a more secure feeling and at the same time the netting ceilings keep you close to nature. They offer a nice view of the river.
These tents are large and spacious giving you the feeling of being close to nature. They all have views looking directly onto the river.
These are smaller than the riverside tents but are more secluded in the middle of the bush high up on a platform. Definitely for those who want more privacy.
Camp Bastian Mikumi is set in unique and natural surroundings. They offer comfortable accommodation and a warm, and friendly atmosphere. The camp is located in the buffer zone of Mikumi Natiaonal Park about 10 kilometers from the main gate and very close to the A7 Dar es Salaam - Zambia and Malawi highway. The accommodation consists of six cottages and a campsite. Each cottage has a private verandah and is decorated with locally made furniture and fabrics in order to keep an authentic atmosphere in the rooms. All the cottages have a private bathroom attached.
They come with one double bed and can be configured as single or double beds.
They come with two king size beds and a sofa bed, and can be configured as double, triple, or quadruple beds.
They come with three separated bedrooms and one sitting room, and can be configured for a group of five to eight people.
All the rooms come with complimentary bottled water, towels, and mosquito netting. Hot water and electricity is available round the clock. The cottages and the campsite are all located within the unique and natural settings of Camp Bastian, so no matter which type of accommodation you choose, you will wake up listening to uninterrupted sounds of beetles, crickets, and birds!
Udzungwa Forest Camp also known to the locals as Hondo Hondo, offers a pristine rainforest and mountainous region for a truly special Tanzania safari, exploring the lush surroundings and viewing wildlife on the lesser known Southern Circuit. The camp offers a combination of tented rooms and traditional thatched huts.
The six en-suite tented rooms, which are decorated using local sustainable materials such as coconut wood and bamboo, all come with a double bed and sprung mattress, complete with mosquito nets. Each tent has solar-powered lighting and a socket for charging phones and camera batteries. At the back of the tent, the open-air bathrooms have flush toilets, and an excellent solar-heated ‘rain shower’ from which you can enjoy the views into the nearby forest.
The five thatched huts are much more basic, with just a double bed and spring mattress under walk-in mosquito nets, a table and chair, solar lighting, and a wall socket. These are suggested only to adventurous travelers on a tight budget.
The original campsite lies nearby, where travelers may either use their own equipment or rent it from the main lodge.
Ruaha Hilltop Lodge is built on a hill with a wonderful panoramic view. There are many types of different birds, wild flowers, butterflies, and trees that can be seen nearby. The luxury self contained cottages are very comfortable and private, each with its own balcony with a beautiful view. The water is heated by solar power and they have round the clock electricity. Wi-Fi is available at the lodge. The reception, dining room and bar are all under one roof, with a gallery to enjoy the spectacular African sunrise and sunset. Giraffes, elephants and baboons and kudus can sometimes be glimpsed not far way. They also have a Curio shop. Their experienced chefs provide both continental and Tanzanian cuisine, using fresh products from the local area. The bar is well stocked and they also serve fresh juice and, bake their own bread.
Meet and greet in Dar es Salaam at 7:30 a.m. and drive with a lunch box to Selous Game Reserve. Enjoy the late afternoon thrilling boat safari on the Rufiji River where you will see hippos and crocodiles in their natural habitat. Spend the night at Selous Tented Camp with lunch and dinner.

Take an early morning walking safari and drive back to Mikumi National Park with a lunch box. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of landscape, which is dominated by hills and plains as well as a part of the famous Miombo Woodlands. The overnight stay will include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
After breakfast, drive to Udzungwa Mountains National Park for hiking till Sanje Falls. Enjoy swimming in the cool water hole at the base of the falls with lunch box. Drive back to Mikumi for overnight at Camp Bastian will have breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
After breakfast, drive with a lunch box to Ruaha National Park. En-route, visit local villages and farms. On the way, pass through the Kitonga Hills which are part of the Udzungwa Mountains. The road then follows the Great Ruaha River and then climbs the Great Rift Escarpment. En-route, visit Neema craft. Spend the night at Ruaha Hilltop Lodge with breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
After breakfast, join a full day game drive with a lunch box. The overnight stay at Ruaha Hilltop Lodge will include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
After breakfast, drive to Mufindi National Park with lunch box. Spend the night at Mufindi Highland Lodge with breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
You have a host of activities to enjoy in Mufindi highlands, these include horse riding, fishing, golf, croquet, cultural visit, and a farm visit. Spend the night at Mufindi Highland Lodge with breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
After breakfast, drive to Mikumi National Park with a lunch box . Enjoy a late afternoon game drive with a sunset view and watch the animals drink water at hippo pool. The overnight stay will be at Camp Bastian with breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
After breakfast, drive back to Dar es Salaam with a lunch box. This marks the end of your safari.
You will experience a boat safari along the Rufiji River, hiking trip to Sanje falls, and a walking safari in the Selous National Reserve.
Selous Game Reserve has the finest unspoiled virgin bush, uninhabited, and little touched by human interference. You will find yourself in a pristine wilderness far away from the established tourist routes. It is also a home for thrilling boat and walking safari in Southern circuit. Selous boost larger population of Elephants as well as large numbers of buffalo, hippo, crocodile, and endangered wild dog.
Commonly seen are pride of lion, bush buck, impala, warthogs, ostrich, giraffe, eland, baboon, zebra, hyena, kudu, rare sable antelope, and leopard. In Selous there are more than 400 species of bird life such as fish eagle, kingfisher, secretary bird, sunbird, hammer kop, red and yellow bill stork, ppen bill stork, weavers, water birds, marabou stork, vulture, and many others.
Udzungwa Mountains National Park is a sumptuous forested reserve, a rare tropical forest that is home to a realm of unique plants, birds, and animals.It is also the sacred preserve of hikers and walkers. These forests are remarkably unspoiled, a wilderness of extremely beautiful woodland routes - with no driving tracks at all, bring walkers to the spectacular 170 meters drop of Sanje Waterfalls, with colorful and long ranging views of up to 100 kilometers across the Kilombero Valley and mosaic of grasslands from the top. Furthermore the park is a home of an important population of primates (10 species - more than in any of Tanzania’s other parks) as well as the grey faced sengi.
Ruaha National Park lies deep in the South with its striking, rugged landscapes, and abundant wildlife. The great Ruaha River that provides life to the park, flows through the Eastern side of the park and is home to hippos, crocodiles, and over 400 species of birds such as racket tailed roller, pale billed hornbill, Shelley’s sunbird, and hoopoes.
Ruaha also provides home to one of Tanzania’s largest elephant populations and is famous for pride of lions, giraffe, grant’s gazelles, leopard, cheetah, zebra, giraffe, buffallo etc. Rare and endangered animals such as sable antelope, greater kudu and roan antelope, are also seen in the park.
Mufindi highlands offers you the opportunity to experience a different part of Tanzania. This area is surrounded by tea estates, dark thick montane forest, rugged bush land interlaced with lakes, rivers, and streams. It is an ideal place to relax after the rigors of your safari. The climate is cool and there are a number of activities to choose from including walking, fishing, golf, mountain biking, and horseback riding.
Mikumi National Park also called as 'Mini Serenget' is home to open horizons and abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain and is a popular center piece of Mikumi. Commonly seen animals here include elephant, giraffe, zebra, antelope, wildebeest, eland, crocodile, hippo, and baboon. If you are lucky you will get to see the lion and will be very lucky if you get see a leopard!
Over 300 spices of birds are seen in the park that include the saddle bill stork, hammer kop, malachite kingfisher, lilac breasted roller, yellow throated long claw, battler eagle, and many more. Another big attraction here is the hippo pools, where you can watch hippos wallowing and snorting at close range.
You will be served three daily meals during the duration of the safari, with an exception for the first day when you will be served lunch and dinner and on the last day only a breakfast and lunch would be served. Since you will be travelling during the day time, you will be offered packed lunch boxes. Both local and International foods are served at the venues. Also fresh vegetables and seasonal fruits are available.
Take a Maasai village walking tour, which includes a 45-minute walk one way to spend an hour in a Maasai village and interact with natives and observe their morning activities like milking a cow. The tour can be taken on the last day of the safari, it begins early morning at 6 a.m. and ends by 9:30 a.m. The cost is 20 USD per pax.
