Guided Sightseeing Tour Australia

From penguins and apostles to kangaroos and rainforest, this tour combines Wildlife Tours Australia's two most popular day tours into one action-packed adventure. After a full day exploring the Great Ocean Road, you stay overnight in the seaside town of Torquay and join in an Aussie BBQ with newfound friends. On day two, you take the Searoad Ferry across the bay as you make your way to Phillip Island in search of penguins!

Accommodation

Your overnight stay is in a shared dorm accommodation in the township of Torquay. Accommodation upgrades to a double or twin room (motel requests) are subject to availability.

Day 1: The Great Ocean Road

  • Twelve Apostles: view the almighty 12 Apostles
  • Loch Ard Gorge: be surrounded by the towering limestone cliffs
  • Gibson Steps: walk on the beach and be dwarfed by the 12 Apostles
  • Otway’s Rainforest (Mait’s Rest): experience guided bushwalk through the ancient Otway's Rainforest
  • Apollo Bay: explore the cute seaside town, stop for some refreshments
  • Spot wild koalas, kookaburras, and parrots
  • Lorne
  • Tasty Aussie BBQ for dinner (pizza in wet weather): enjoy a delicious dinner in Torquay

Day 2: The Great Ocean Road and Phillip Island's penguins

  • Torquay
  • Ferry ride: look out for seals and dolphins as you cruise from Queenscliff to Sorrento on the ferry
  • Sorrento Beach: take a walk and explore the rockpools or photograph the iconic bathing boxes
  • Australian Wildlife Park: spot koalas, kangaroos, emus, wombats, Tasmanian devils, and various birdlife; this is a photographer's dream!
  • Woolamai: be blown away by the rugged surf beach
  • Swan Lake: wander and spy wetland birds and wallabies from the hidden observation platforms (time permitting)
  • Nobbies, Seal Rocks, and the Blowhole: gaze across the rough headland and spot seals sunbathing
  • Summerlands: observe the thunderous surf beneath the sheer cliff faces
  • Penguin parade: watch the magic as the world's smallest penguins appear out of the surf!

Notes

  • The tour departs on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 07:00 - 08:00 and returns at 21:00 (winter) or 00:00 midnight (summer).
  • Itinerary may vary slightly depending on group size, group pace, and other external factors beyond control.
  • Activities at Sorrento Beach and Swan Lake are subject to daylight hour restrictions and will be omitted if time does not permit.
  • The maximum luggage is 20 kilograms per person in a soft traveling pack. Pushers, prams, walking frames, and wheelchair are not permitted on tour.

How to get there

Arrival by bus

Inner city pickup and drop off service are included. It is strongly recommended that you arrive at your pickup location at least 10 minutes before departure time. Please be patient and do not panic if your bus is running a few minutes late. If your bus has not picked you up within 10 minutes of your departure time, please call the Wildlife Tours Australia's office.
