The camp comprises of 25 tents. The tents are furnished with the understated luxury required by the modern traveler. Decorated in calming safari tones, natural woods, wrought iron and crisp cotton, each tent has been meticulously planned to maximize comfort.

Each tent has an en-suite bathroom to the rear with a flush loo and showers with hot running water to wash away the dust of the day. At the front of each tent is a verandah overlooking the plains, with canvas safari chairs to sit back and enjoy the view. The main lodge has a large restaurant, under a high thatched roof, though evening meals are sometimes taken under the stars. There is also a bar for post-safari sundowners, a cozy lounge with board games and a roaring fire and a small shop with goodies to bring home.

Mara Simba Lodge

Mara Simba Lodge is located in the Maasai Mara National Reserve along Talek River. It is about 325 kilometers from Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya. The lodge was conceived with an emphasis on exclusivity and comfort. It was designed to complement its surroundings and is decorated in Maasai traditional style. Wide, well-lit pathways connect the public areas and rooms. The lodge consists of 84 rooms arranged in clusters of 6 in each natural wood and stone Banda (4 rooms on the ground floor, 2 interconnecting rooms on the first floor), comprise 60 twin rooms, 12 double, 4 double and single, and 8 triple rooms.

They all have en-suite showers, tiled bathrooms with natural granite, and bathroom fittings. Each spacious room, which can easily accommodate an extra bed, opens onto its own private veranda with uninterrupted views across the river.

This safari will take place in Lake Nakuru National Park and Maasai Mara National Reserve.

Lake Nakuru National Park

The Lake Nakuru National Park is one of the top tourist destinations in Africa, famed for the flamingos that flock to its shores of Lake Nakuru. It is a very important breeding ground and stop over for many species of birds, and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Lake Nakuru is a shallow strongly alkaline lake set in a picturesque landscape of surrounding woodland and grassland. The landscape includes areas of marsh and grasslands alternating with rocky cliffs and outcrops, stretches of acacia woodland and rocky hillsides covered with a Euphorbia forest.

The number of flamingoes on the lake varies with water and food conditions and the best vantage point is from Baboon Cliff. Also of interest is an area of 188 kilometers around the lake fenced off as a sanctuary to protect Rothschild giraffes, black rhinos, and white rhinos.

Maasai Mara National Reserve

The Maasai Mara is home to an excellent year-round concentration of game and is renowned for its annual visit by the two million animals that make up the great migration. Maasai Mara National Reserve is the ‘Seventh Wonder of the World’ due to the annual migration of over 1.3 million wildebeests from the Serengeti plains to the Mara.

Covering an impressive 1115 square kilometers (430 square miles), the Maasai Mara is a land of breathtaking vistas, abundant wildlife, and endless plains. The Maasai Mara was made famous by the book Out of Africa by Karen Blixen, which was later made into a movie starring Robert Redford and Meryl Streep.

The Maasai Mara is Kenya’s most popular safari destination and for good reason. It is a vast reserve of endless flat grassland crossed by rivers which play host to wildlife’s most spectacular moments.
