This 3-day African safari, which specifically includes the Lake Manyara National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and Tarangire National Park, has been designed to offer you a short but intense Tanzanian Northern Circuit safari experience for a shorter and constrained time of 3 days. You will experience the excitement of game viewing in three of the most spectacular national game parks in Tanzania!
During this safari, you will be staying at public camp site.
This unforgettable African safari tour will take you to the Ngorongoro Crater, featuring one of the highest concentrations of game in Africa. There, you will witness an amazing spectacle of African wildlife, inside a self-contained world teeming with animals. Your tour will also take you to the Lake Manyara National Park, one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a shallow but huge soda lake, at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment.
Finally, your African safari tour will also take you to the Tarangire National Park, which features some of the greatest concentration of game in Tanzania, second only to the Ngorongoro Crater but less crowded and unspoiled, possesses a wild beauty. The size of the selected Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, and Tarangire National Parks makes them a perfect choice for your shorter safaris.
Below is a suggested or sample Tanzanian safari itinerary. It can be adapted to suit your own personal needs and preferences, as well as to any seasonal changes or migratory animal movements. As with all the safari, tour, and trekking packages, you will be offered with a wide variety of accommodation options, directly impacting on the total safari costs, in order to offer you the widest possible tour budget options.
Please do not hesitate to contact one of the tours consultants directly should you require any further assistance or more detailed information regarding any of the African safaris or packages. The tour will use specially converted 4×4 safari vehicles (i.e. Toyota Land Cruiser pop-up roof) that are able to take on the harsh Tanzanian road conditions. You will enjoy a window seat. During the game drives, the roof will open, ensuring unspoiled views.
In the morning you will be picked up from your hotel and you will travel to the Tarangire National Park. This park with its huge baobab trees, the perennial Tarangire River and seasonal swamps is home to the largest elephant herds in northern Tanzania. Animals gather at the river and you should be able to see elephants, giraffes, bushbucks, hartebeests, dik-diks, waterbucks, warthogs and reedbucks all year round. Furthermore the park is also home to buffaloes, zebras and wildebeests which are always closely followed by a range of predators such as lions. Leopards are seen every once in a while but cheetahs are rarely spotted. From the open roof of the vehicle you will be able to absorb the landscape and watch the animals. After an extensive game drive, you will leave the park and drive to public camp site, where you will spend the night.
After an early start you will make your way to the cooler regions of the Ngorongoro highlands. The Ngorongoro Crater is almost 600 m deep, approximately 20 km wide and the massive caldera is home to an amazing variety of animals. On your game drive you have the possibility of seeing all different kinds of mammals ranging from the “Big Five” – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard – to Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles and mountain reedbucks. You might also see spotted hyenas and some of the more than 500 bird species of the area. After a picnic lunch in the crater and some more game viewing, you will leave the crater in the afternoon and travel to Karatu, where you will overnight at public camp site
After breakfast, you will leave the highlands and continue to Lake Manyara National Park, one of the smallest but most diverse parks in Tanzania. The shallow and alkaline Lake Manyara covers a large area of the park and it is the seasonal home to thousands of flamingos – an awesome (pink) sight. However more than 500 other bird species are also found here as well as some wonderful mammals. Troops of monkeys live in the forests, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras and wildebeests on the grassy plains and elephants and lions in the acacia woodlands. After an intensive game drive and a picnic lunch, you will leave the park to arrive in Arusha by the late afternoon.
2 breakfasts, 3 lunches, and 2 dinners will be prepared for you. Mineral water will also be provided to keep you hydrated during the trip.
