Destination defined, we began to search several companies seeking the best price vs service quality. We contacted several companies and from the first contact via email we were very well served by Mathew. We then chose Wild Root relying on various positive reviews and great customer service via email. On our trip, everything was not only confirmed as it exceeded all our expectations. From start to finish, Mathew and our guide Raymond were genuinely concerned about every detail providing us with a unique experience. Raymond was the best guide we could have had. An extremely cheerful, intelligent person with deep knowledge of nature and animals. In just 4 days we get to see the Big 5 and incredible scenes like the great migration, ostriches running, a lioness hunting Wildebeest, a group of young lions playing in the water, mating of rhinos among many others that will be eternally stored in our memory. We strongly recommend Mathew and his Wild Root team whatever is your final destination!!! Thanks so much for all Mathew and Raymond!!!

We wanted to go on safari while in Tanzania but so many were just too prices. However I found Wild Root Safari company who were brilliant! They were helpful from beginning to end, everything was organised, Matthew was a star. We went to Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara. All were amazing, we saw so many animals and the views were spectacular. Our driver and guide was very knowledgable and he looked after us well. The hotels we stayed in, chosen by Wild Roots, were great. All in all we had such a great time and it didn't break the bank! We also had a chance to visit a Masai village which was fascinating. Thank you Wild Roots!

Right from the beginning through my email contacts with the company I received give star service planning this safari. Matthew arranged for our airport pick up in Arusha and the hotel the night before at outpost lodge which was an excellent bed and breakfast. From there he can and pick up the 4 of us in the morning and headed out on the road.

The Toyota Land Cruiser was very comfortable and had a fridge and a charging station for our use. He even stopped at a few local markets so we could buy some beer to stick it with. ( we are Canadian after all!).

Our first stop was in tarangire park. And it was amazing, we did a full day game drive and saw so many animals. We even stopped for lunch on the trail and ate with the elephants which were about 10 feet from the jeep! Late afternoon we headed to Eileen's trees hotel in karatu. Amazing hotel with amazing service.

The next morning we headed out towards the Serengeti, it was a long drive but well worth it. Went on a late afternoon game drive and saw many hippos, giraffe, zebra etc... We even got to watch two lioness stalking zebra. We arrived at katikati luxury tent camp at dark and were taken to our tents. Which had running water, toilets and even a hot shower.

The next morning we woke up early, really early to go on a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti. Let me just say it's a memory I will never forget. Spectacular! It was followed by champagne and a full breakfast in the middle of nowhere under a giant acacia tree.

Matthew picked us up after the balloon and found us some more lions and got us a close up of a mature male! We were about 8 feet away! That afternoon we headed up to the edge of ngorongoro crater to stay at rhino lodge. Again with wonderful views and exceptional service.

In the morning we woke up early to head to the crater floor. Matthew promised to find us a rhinoceros to round out the African big 5. And he did. He found one of less than 10! After our morning drive we headed back to Arusha for an overnight at outpost lodge before catching our flight the next day.

Matthew was the real reason this trip was so memorable. He was born Masai and grew up in one of the many small Masai villages we drove past on the trip. He worked hard to get an education and runs this company. He is the owner and operator of wild root safari. He has a heart of gold and a strong passion to give back to the people so the can get educated too. Every evening at dinner between our 1000 questions you could tell the he was sincerely concerned about giving back to others.

If you are ever looking for a professional company with amazing staff and an amazing safari look no further.

Thank you to Matthew from all of us on the trip with you. We will cherish it for the rest of our lives and we will be back to see you before too long.
