Accommodation

You will stay at Pearl Highway Motel on your first night. On the second and third night, you will stay at Chameleon Hill Lodge or Gorilla Valley Lodge, subject to the allocation of the gorilla permits, while Ihamba Lakeside Safari Lodge or Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge will be your home on your fourth and fifth night.

Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge

This bush lodge forms an excellent base for your safari activities in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The lodge is built along ecological principals, withe bandas designed and spaced in such a way to maximize privacy and enhance the safari aspect of the lodge. Surrounded by the national park and bordering the Kazinga channel, the lodge has a truly unique setting. Animals literary roam in and out the camp, and sounds of hippos and hyenas complement the star-lit dinners.

Program

Day 1: Arrival at the airport

This day is reserved with no activity. You will be picked up by the guide from the airport and transferred to Highway Motel in Kampala where you will spend the night.

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Forest Park

You will be picked up from Kampala and will drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda. The transfer takes you through the beautiful spectacular scenery and the rolling hills of southern Uganda. It can be long, up to eight hours, and will depend on road conditions and the place of allocation of gorilla permits.

Lunch is organized en route in a nice restaurant. Arrive at your lodge in time for dinner and overnight at your preferred accommodation. You can stay at Chameleon Hill Lodge or Gorilla Valley Lodge, subject to the allocation of the gorilla permits.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi

Have an early-morning breakfast and then report to the park headquarters for registration and join other trackers in a briefing about the dos and the don’ts during your gorilla tracking. You will trek through thick creepers and undergrowth with your guides to find the gorillas, which can take you half an hour to three quarters of the day. The steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists.

It is an extraordinary feeling being with these beautiful yet endangered creatures. You can try the Batwa Experience Trail or the community walk in Buhoma (optional). Dinner and overnight as previous night.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

This morning, you will depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park. Be prepared for some incredible scenery along the way. Enjoy a breathtaking game drive in the south of the park famed for the tree-climbing lions. Then, you will continue northward arriving in time for lunch at the lodge.

After lunch, head off for an afternoon game drive in the plains of Kasenyi in search for savanna wildlife, that may include herds of buffaloes, antelopes, elephants, and if lucky, some wild cats, such as lions and leopard. Dinner and overnight will be at Ihamba Lodge or Enganzi Lodge, or if you are staying at Bush Lodge, it will be self contained. Full board meals are provided.

Day 5: Morning game viewing (or Kyambura Gorge chimpanzee trek) and water cruise on the Kazinga Channel

This morning, you will head back to the plains of Kasenyi for a morning game drive to try to find what could have been missed the previous day. Alternatively, Wild Jungle Trails Safaris organizes the chimpanzee trekking in the beautiful Kyambura Gorge to find the chimps in their natural habitat. Lunch will be served at the lodge, and then, you will head to the jetty along Kazinga Channel for the afternoon boat cruise.

This cruise offers you the chance of viewing animals like hippos, water birds, elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, and many other wildlife which flop the channel for drinking water. By evening, enjoy a short game drive in the park, followed by dinner and overnight at Ihamba Lodge or Enganzi Lodge, or if you are staying at Bush Lodge, it will be self contained. Full board meals are provided.

Day 6: Entebbe

This is the final day of the program. Breakfast and lunch are included and the final transfer back to Entebbe. The driver and guide will eventually transfer you to the airport for your flights in Entebbe.

Location

This safari holiday will take place in various destinations in Uganda, including Queen Elizabeth National Park. This national park is arguably the most popular and easily accessible game park in Uganda. The park covers 1978 square kilometers and includes a remarkable 57 varieties of ecosystems, from semi-deciduous tropical forest to green meadows, savannah, and swamps.

Over 90 mammal species have been recorded here, the highest for any Ugandan national park. It is the home of the famous tree-climbing lions, the Uganda Kob and other antelope species, as well as elephants, buffaloes, hippos, baboons, and chimpanzees. The Rare Giant Forest hog is often seen here.

Aside from that, more than 550 bird species have been sighted in Queen Elizabeth, making this park truly unique for it has one of the highest numbers in the world for such a relatively small park. The species include the Shoebill Stork, Black Bee-eater, Kingfishers, and several falcons and eagles.
