Golf Hill Residence Hotel

You will stay at the Golf Hill Residence Hotel for your first night. It is a hotel you can feel at home in Kigali, with a mixture of Western-African interior designing and a warm welcome from the highly trained staff and outstanding services. It is a legacy built over the years among guests across the world since Golf Hills Residence started. Double rooms give maximum relaxation and are recommended for couples with necessary equipment . The rooms also come with room service.

Hotel facilities include a bar and lounge, restaurant with French and regional cuisine, free parking, laundry and dry cleaning services, a large and beautiful garden, free Wi-Fi in all premises, and available recreation facilities.

Muhabura Hotel

After driving around Volcanoes National Park, you can rest at Muhabura Hotel for your second and third overnight. When visiting the Land of a Thousand Hills, a wonderful stay is advised at the Muhabura Hotel in the northern province, set in the calm of the Musanze town surroundings.

It has 30 rooms and apartments at very reasonable rates, and offers a cozy environment to relax in after gorilla trekking or a day visit to the northern area of Rwanda. The rooms have a warm shower, laundry service, satellite TV, and free Wi-Fi internet.

Gorilla Valley Lodge

For the fourth and fifth nights, you will take a good night's sleep in the accommodation of your preference just along Bwindi. You can also stay at the Gorilla Valley Lodge, which is subject to the allocation of the gorilla permits. Gorilla Valley Lodge is a medium-range hotel which consists of 12 rooms. The rooms are with spacious, private bathrooms, toilets, dining or waiting areas beautifully situated in a lowland, and an evergreen forest allowing breathtaking views of the African Eden.

Rich in wildlife, the hotel is also a close distance to the majestic Virunga Volcanoes. Every room has been lovingly furnished with twin beds and decorated in a modern retro style. On the highest part of the hill is the main building with a restaurant and bar. From there, the view is amazing! In the lounge, you can relax by the fire. You can also make yourself comfortable in the veranda.

Bush Lodge

A series of activities await for you in Queen Elizabeth National Park and the Kazinga Channel. Near these destinations, your lodging will be available at the Bush Lodge for nights six and seven. The Bush Lodge forms an excellent base for your safari activities in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The lodge is built along ecological principals. The bandas are designed and spaced in such a way to maximize privacy and enhance the safari aspect of the lodge.

Surrounded by the national park and bordering the Kazinga Channel, the lodge has a truly unique setting. Animals literary room in and out the camp and sounds of hippo's and hyena's complement star lit dinners. The Bush Lodge offers a safari camp which is affordable and authentic. Expect a great outdoor safari atmosphere and a close-to-nature experience with excellent food and friendly service.

Chimpanzee Guest House

You will be staying at the Chimpanzee Guest House for the eighth and ninth nights. The Chimpanzee Guest House is located at the edge of Kibale National Park, only 22 kilometers from Fort Portal on the Kamwenge Road. Enjoy beautiful panoramic vistas of the park and the Rwenzori Mountains. Chimpanzee Forest Guest House offers accommodations in beautifully furnished self-contained cottages or bandas.

They also offer accommodations in a large ancient colonial house. The house is well furnished with two self-contained rooms in a colonial setting. It has beautiful views of the tea plantation and crater lake. Enjoy hot showers in western-style bathrooms or camp on a flat grassy site separated away from the main guest house and cottages with shade and seclusion.

Heritage Lodge

After visiting Murchison Falls National Park and having a boat cruise in the Nile, you can enjoy your full board accommodation at the Heritage Lodge for nights ten and eleven. Heritage Lodge celebrates the recreational value of the landscape and the flora and fauna of Uganda’s largest national park. Being a heritage endowed by the Acoli tribe, Heritage Lodge fights for the preservation and conservation of wildlife. Accommodation consists of tents, luxurious and standard cottages.

The camping ground is popular with self-sufficient or budget guests. The cottages give guests 180 degree view. To the east, the early morning sunrise and hot spring, to the immediate south right in front of the cottages, the hot spring as it flows into the Nile, and to the west, the Albert Nile itself with the community in their canoes going about their daily routine. The cottages are designed to allow unique and flexible bedding arrangement to suit each guest’ unique requirements

Lagoon Resort

For for rest of the trip, your lodging will be at the Lagoon Resort. Your rooms are all economy lodges with en-suite bathrooms, perfect for resting after an exhausting day and getting ready for the next trip. Lagoon Resort is a popular choice for weekend breaks from Kampala, honeymoons, family weekends, safari stopovers, and more. All the materials for the construction of Lagoon Resort have been produced and sourced locally.

They can also cater for groups such as small wedding parties and corporate entertaining.The main lodge building is constructed from eucalyptus and the bar is made of huge slabs of local Eruku wood. Sections of tree trunk have been spliced together to make a unique bar feature. The interiors of the Africa-inspired lodge are designed to the owners’ own unique design.

Environmental management is important to the owners of Lagoon Resort who have invested in their own borehole and numerous solar panels. The resort is powered solely by solar energy. It is the only lodge in Uganda with a 100% solar pump well.


Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Kigali for overnight

Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport (KGL), you will be met by the office representative and transferred to your overnight hotel in a bed and breakfast at Golf Hill Residence Hotel.

Day 2: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

The tour guide will take you for a city tour in Kigali. Then, you will proceed to Volcanoes National Park. Located in the north of Ruhengeri via the dramatic and beautiful terraced hills, you will see a clear picture of the general landscape and altitude of Rwanda. Lunch will be en route. Arrive at the park and check into your lodge for dinner and overnight. Accommodation is at Muhabura Hotel.

Day 3: First gorilla trekking safari

In the early morning, you will have breakfast at the lodge and then drive through the Switzerland of Rwanda, Volcanoes National Park. The activity immerses you into the strange intimacy of the rain forest plus the live call of colorful birds, the chattering of the rare golden monkey, the surroundings littered with the fresh spoor of the mountain, and the elusive population of buffalo and elephants. Tonight, you will enjoy your dinner and stay overnight at Muhabura Hotel.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Forest Park

After breakfast, you will drive off to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda. You will cross Rwanda to Uganda through the Kyanika Uganda-Rwanda border and then drive to your lodge. The transfer will take you through the beautiful, spectacular scenery and the rolling hills of southern Uganda. Arrive at your lodge in time for dinner and your overnight stay at the accommodation of your preference.

You can stay at the Gorilla Valley Lodge, which is subject to the allocation of the gorilla permits, on full board. The day's transfer can take up to five hours and depends on roads conditions and the allocation of gorilla permits for the choice of the area.

Day 5: Second gorilla trekking in Bwindi

Have an early morning breakfast and then report to the park headquarters for registration. Then, join other trackers in a briefing about the dos and the don’ts during your gorilla tracking. You will trek through thick creepers and undergrowth with your guides to find the gorillas which can take you half an hour to three quarters of the day.

The steeply-forested landscape is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails, allowing access to tourists. It is an extraordinary feeling being with those beautiful, yet endangered creatures. Dinner and overnight will be as the previous night. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Valley Lodge is subject to the allocation of the gorilla permits.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

In the morning, you will depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park. Be prepared for some incredible scenery along the way. Enjoy a breathtaking game drive in the south of the park famed for the tree-climbing lions.

Then, you will continue northwards arriving in time for lunch at the lodge. After lunch, head off for an afternoon game drive in the plains of Kasenyi in search for savanna wildlife that may include herds of buffaloes, antelopes, elephants, and if lucky, some wild cats, such as lions and leopard. Dinner and overnight will be at Bush Lodge.

Day 7: Morning game viewing and water cruise on the Kazinga Channel

In the morning, you will head back to the plains of Kasenyi for a morning game drive to try to find what could have been missed the previous day. Lunch will be served at the lodge and after, you will head to the jetty along Kazinga Channel for an afternoon boat cruise.

This cruise offers you the chance of viewing animals like hippos, water birds, elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, and many other wildlife which flop the channel for drinking water. Again, your dinner and overnight will be at Bush Lodge.

Day 8: Transfer to Kibale National Park

After an early breakfast, you will drive to Kibale Forest National Park, arriving at your lodge in time for lunch. Dinner and overnight accommodation will be at the Chimpanzee Guest House.

Day 9: Chimpanzee trekking

After breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters to join other trackers for a briefing. Then, you will be taken for chimpanzee tracking through Kibale Forest National Park. During the walk, you will have a chance of seeing many of the 13 primate species native to Kibale Forest National Park. After lunch, you will drive to Bigodi for a swamp walk. The wetland belongs to a community neighboring the park. For the night, dinner and boarding will be at the Chimpanzee Guest House.

Day 10: Drive to Murchison Falls National Park

You will drive to Murchison Falls National Park through small towns, villages, and great views of the escarpment, arriving late in the evening. The drive will take you along the Great Rift Valley and along magnificent views of scenery. Lunch will be en route. You will later arrive at the national park and check into your lodge for dinner and overnight at your lodge at Heritage Lodge.

Day 11: Morning game drives and afternoon boat cruise on the Nile

After an early morning cup of tea, you will transfer to the northern section for your morning game drive that will provide you an opportunity to spot wild game that may include giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, hippos, and if you are lucky, wild cats, such as lions and leopards.

Return to the lodge for a lunch break before proceeding to the pier for your two-hour boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. There, you will witness how river Nile squeezes itself in a narrow gorge before exploding out, creating the experience of a lifetime. Again, dinner and overnight accommodation will be at Heritage Lodge.

Day 12: Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to Bulago Island

In the morning, you will leave Murchison Falls and make a short tour to the top where you can witness the magnificent Nile making a beautiful twist into a narrow gorge to form the powerful water falls. Drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and have a nature walk to visit the endangered rhinos before transferring back to Kampala and connecting to Bulago Island, which is found in Lake Victoria.

The overnight stay will be at the Lagoon Resort. The transfer is about four-hour drive and an extra 40 minutes transfer by speedboat from the mainland up to Bulago Island.

Day 13: Spend time at leisure in Bulago Island

Spend the entire day at leisure in the island. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and the overnight accommodation will be at the Lagoon Resort. Wild Jungle Trails Safaris can suggest various activities for you while at the resort. Bulago Island is a peaceful island located out in Lake Victoria, which is the largest fresh water body in East Africa and the largest tropical lake in the whole world.

Day 14: Bulago Island to Entebbe

This is the final day of the program. Breakfast and lunch are included and the final transfer from the island back to the mainland is organized by speed boat. The departure is flexible, depending on your flight schedule. The driver or guide will eventually receive you at the mainland and transfer you to the airport for your flights in Entebbe.

Included excursions

On the second day of your safari tour, the guide will take you for a city excursion in and around Kigali so that you are oriented about the great country with a thousand hills. The tour may last up to three hours.


This safari will take place in Uganda and Rwanda, East Africa. Various destinations are in store for you in this exciting trip!

Queen Elizabeth National Park.

The park is arguably the most popular and easily accessible game park in Uganda. The park covers 1,978 square kilometers and includes remarkably 57 varieties of ecosystems, from semi-deciduous tropical forests to green meadows, savannah, and swamps. Over 90 mammal species have been recorded there, the highest for any Ugandan national park.

It is the home of the famous tree climbing lions, the Uganda Kob, and other antelope species, as well as elephants, buffaloes, hippos, baboons, and chimpanzees. The Rare Giant Forest Hog is often seen there. Over 550 bird species have been sighted in Queen Elizabeth, making the park truly unique for it has one of the highest numbers in the world for such a relatively small park.

Kibale Forest National Park

The national park covers an area of about 795 kilometers and it is acknowledged to have one of Uganda’s most gorgeous tropical rain forests. The forest covers predominates in the central and northern part of the park on the raised Fort Portal Plateau. At the park’s northern tip is Kibale which stands 1,590 meters above sea level. The diversity and density of primates in Kibale is the highest in Africa. The most famous of its 13 species is the chimpanzee.

Kibale, with 1,450 chimpanzees, represent Uganda’s largest population of the endangered primate. It is also home to the rare L’Hoest’s monkey and East Africa’s largest population of the threatened red colobus monkey. Other mammals are present, though rarely seen. These include forest elephant, buffalo, leopard, bush pig, and duiker.

A keen observer may also spot reptiles and amphibians as well as a colorful variety of butterflies. The park boasts 325 species of birds, including six that are endemic to the Albertine Rift region.

Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda’s largest national park, covering over 3,840 square kilometers. The park is renowned for its scenic beauty and the spectacular falls from which it gets its name. The park and the greater Murchison Falls Conservation Area support an abundance of flora and fauna, boasting over 72 species of mammals, nine species of primates, more than 465 species of plants, and 450 species of birds.

The diversity can truly boggle your imagination. From rolling savannah and tall grasslands to thick bush and woodlands, the bio-diversity of this park never ceases to amaze visitors and residents alike.

Things to do (optional)

On the third day of your safari, you can choose between a visit to Dian Fossey’s grave or spotting golden monkeys in Volcanoes National Park. In the afternoon, of day eight, you can organize an optional nature walk to the crater lake region or a walk in the Bigodi community. Day 13 may include nature walks, boat excursions, swimming, or mainly just relaxing and spending the day at leisure.

You can also opt for gorilla permits for your fourth and fifth nights accommodation. These can be purchased for 600 USD in Bwindi Forest and 1,500 USD in Volcanoes Park.
