Canoe Safari

At this camping site, you will be provided with camping equipment, drinks, and dinner.

Imbabala Zambezi Safari Lodge

The Imbabala main lodge is a charming thatched structure, consisting of a lounge, dining room, and bar area. This offers fantastic views of both the river and a nearby waterhole, which attracts game throughout the year. A swimming pool and al fresco eating area nestle under ancient trees. There are no fences to prevent animal movement, so expect to see a game and wonderful birdlife along the river bank as well as in and around the lodge.

Imbabala Zambezi Safari Lodge offers exclusive accommodation for only 20 guests in nine individual stone and thatch lodges with en-suite facilities. Each lodge is beautifully positioned with spacious verandas opening onto sweeping views of the Zambezi River. Imbabala has one family lodge - double (sleeps up to four people), two double, and six twin-bedded lodges.

Each room has no air conditioner, a ceiling fan, universal adaptors that fit American and European adaptors, tea and coffee station, electronic safe, mosquito nets, a hammock, and Veranda furniture on deck including two chairs, one side table with an ash tray. There are seven rooms with showers, two rooms with showers and bath tubs, and regrettably to inform you that smoking is not allowed in the rooms.

The Elephant Camp

The Elephant Camp is nestled on a ridge between the Masuwe River and the Zambezi gorges, giving guests an uninterrupted view of the breath-taking spray that swells above the Victoria Falls rainforest.Set against a backdrop of indigenous teak woodland, the imaginative use of eco-friendly canvas tents allows this unique camp to live in harmony with the surrounding environment.

Two camps flow from the African landscape. The Elephant Camp Main which consists of 12 luxury suites and The Elephant Camp West consisting of only four suites.

The Elephant Camp’s suites display their own unique elegance, with a picturesque view spilling before them. Each tent adorns a spacious deck, a private plunge pool, and an outside shower, all of which are ideal locations for relaxation and appreciation of the surrounding landscape.

Even the bath offers an unparalleled view of the horizon. The rooms have been deliberately sculpted to celebrate the openness of the African bush, and there is an easy flow from the bathroom to bedroom to private lounging area that spreads onto the spacious deck through glass French doors.

The stylish furnishing and décor has been specifically selected to capture the beauty of the natural environment, retaining the authenticity of the African wilderness.

Please be informed that no children under the age of seven will be accepted at Imbabala Zambezi Safari lodge and the Elephant Camp unless you book the whole lodge. As Wild Horizons lodges are in wildlife areas, children should be under the supervision of their parents or a guardian at all times.

The two family suites at the Elephant Camp are equipped with one king-sized bed and one fold-out sleeper bed (double bed). The family suite at Imbabala Zambezi Safari Lodge is equipped with one queen-sized bed and two single beds.

"Excellent Activity. Rigorous 3-4 hour raft along the Zambezi river covering 19 rapids from Grade 5-1. Fantastic tour guides. Fundis (our lifeguard) was fantastic. Great instruction throughout the raft and great customer service. Highly Recommend."

"The river had just opened back up for rafting due to high water (May 21 2016). We didn't have enough paddlers so they picked up a couple crew members to paddle with us. The river was wild and fun. We all felt safe with the very knowledgeable and friendly crew. The hike back up the gorge os steep but short enough. The crew was always there to help if needed. I highly recommend this activity with Wild Horizons."

"What a fun adventure!!! We started the day getting detailed instructions then hit the rapids. Hippo was our guide who kept us having a great day. I'm not incredibly fit, but felt comfortable all day. ... except for the walk back up the ravine at the end of the day. I was not ready for that. The staff were amazing though. They stayed with me and ensured I was ok and supported me up the steep incline"

"An absolute must for the bucket list. Stunning experience on one of the great rivers of the world. Exhilaration journey of thrills and spills (literally) through many Rapids up to grade 5. As other people have said you need to be reasonably fit to not only enjoy the rafting but to climb out of the gorge at the end of the journey."

"I cant lie. I was very afraid, very very afraid. I kept telling myself that they don't want to kill Americans though because it wouldn't be good for tourism :) I went on a tandem zipline with my husband. We are both over 6' tall and not skinny folks. We asked them a few times if there was a weight limit and they assured us we would be just fine. The guy that hooked us up to the line was funny and patient...well patient until he pushed us off the edge. It was so much fun! I would absolutely recommend I to anyone and one day I may go back and do it again myself."

"What an incredible experience! The guides and photographers made our day so great! The paddle was not easy, nor was the steep hill. It certainly made me realize how unfit I am. Don't forget to wear loads of sunscreen and get ready for the time of your life. They are a super company."

"I had done rafting before, but nothing like this. To raft the Zambezi was a terrific experience and the Wild Horizons team was great. Our expert guide, Colgate, really got the whole raft excited and pumped. I was absolutely knackered by the end of it, but the lunch and beer at the top fixed me right up. It is an absolutely wonderful, definite must do while in Victoria Falls."

"I had a great day rafting down the Zambezi. Simon was our captain and he was great, always shouting encouragement and getting us through the rapids. We were a bit slow to get going as a team but Simon got us working together. I suggest wearing long sleeves and long shorts as it is tough to keep sun cream on when you are powering through the rapids. The walk up the hill at the end was tough as the day was exhausting paddling but I think that added to the sense of achievement after. The Wild Horizons team was very professional. They wanted you to have fun and we always felt safe. It can be a little scary when you get knocked out and you go under water but then it is exhilarating getting washed down the Zambezi and having the guys in kayaks to rescue you. Thank you Wild Horizons and Simon."
