They cannot guarantee that all activities and shore landings will take place or that they will include all the events they’ve outlined in advance. Embracing the unexpected is part of the legacy - and excitement - of expedition-style travel, and a measure of flexibility is something all of you must bring along on the voyage.
When you join an expedition to the Arctic, you must be in good general health and able to walk long distances. If you join an excursion or landing, you must be able to get up and down the steep gangway from the ship to the water level to board the Zodiacs. Staff will assist you in and out of the boats. Ashore it can be slippery and rocky, therefore it is recommended that you are in good general health without any life-threatening conditions.
There have been enormous changes in the ecosystem of the Norwegian Sea in the past years. Probably the largest gathering of orcas and humpback whales in the world takes place during the winter months in the Norwegian fjords. This is linked to the enormous amount of spring-spawning herring and mackerel. Humpback whales and orcas have been sighted in large numbers feeding on herring. The combination of this natural phenomena, the beautiful ever-changing scenery of the Norwegian fjords and the amazing Northern Lights, make this trip a unique nature experience.
Complete your Norway experience with a thrilling Husky safari where you can drive your own sled! After a short explanation about how to handle the dogs and sleds, you will get your equipment and your team (two people per team). You will start your safari in easy terrain and follow some well-established trails so you can get used to your snowmobile. You continue into a fascinating and unique Arctic, alpine landscape. You make several stops on the way so you can enjoy the fascinating surroundings of mountains, lakes, forest, and fjords.
