Uzuri Uganda Safaris Itinerary

Day 1

You will arrive at Entebbe International Airport (EBB), located on a peninsula that juts out into Lake Victoria, where a representative from Uzuri Uganda Safaris will welcome you to the Pearl of Africa and transfer you to your chosen accommodation.

Day 2

Having arrived the night before, this morning you will depart from Kampala and head to Murchison Falls National Park via Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary. When you arrive at the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary, a guide and armed rangers will take you on either a walking or by vehicle safari to look for the rhinos.

Once you have spotted the rhinos, you will stay in their presence for a while. You will enjoy lunch within the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary after which you will return to your vehicle to complete your transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. On arrival, you will check into Red Chilli Rest Camp, Murchison River Lodge, or Paara Safari Lodge.

Day 3

This morning, before your breakfast, you will wake up early and head out for a game drive for a chance to view the glorious day-break from across the open savannah, birds and dotted woodland as well as riverine vegetation along the Nile. You will also be able to see game ranging from lions, buffalos, elephants, giraffes, antelopes and a lot more. At between 10:00 to 11:00, you will return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch.

After your lunch at 14:00, you will head out for the boat launch to the bottom of the powerful Murchison Falls. This three-hour boat cruise climaxes at the edge of the rift valley escarpment at which point you will get off the boat and trek to the top of the falls (wear sports shoes while on the boat for ease of trekking to the top).

Having worked up a sweat, once at the top, you wil get bathed in the misty spray that the Nile create as it forces itself into the 7-meter cleft to create the famous Murchison Falls. Your guides will be waiting up top to transfer you back to your chosen accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4

Today, you will wake up at leisure and enjoy your breakfast. After breakfast, you will then relax in and around the beautiful lodge ahead of your check-out at 10:00. After check-out, you will commence your transfer back to Kampala with a lunch stop in Masindi. You should arrive back in Kampala in the early evening. Your guides should drop you back at an appointed drop-off or the airport if you are flying out of the country.

Included excursions

During this safari, you will hike to the top of Murchison Falls.

This safari will take place in Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda. Murchison Falls National Park lies at the northern end of the Albertine Rift Valley, where the sweeping Bunyoro escarpment tumbles into vast, palm-dotted savannah. It is crossed by the Nile, the longest river as it flows northwards to the Mediterranean. First gazetted as a game reserve in 1926, it is Uganda’s largest and oldest conservation area, hosting 76 species of mammals and 451 birds.

You will also get the chance to visit Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary to see the rhinos that got wiped out in the Ugandan wild are being bred before they are re-introduced back into the Ugandan national parks.

Other than that, you will get the chance to visit Nile. The Nile leaves Lake Victoria at Ripon Falls near Jinja, Uganda, as the Victoria Nile. It flows north for some 130 kilometers to Lake Kyoga. The last part of the river flows 200 kilometers within Uganda, starts from the western shores of Lake Kyoga and flows at first to the west until just south of Masindi Port, where the river turns north, then makes a great half circle to the east and north until it reaches Karuma Falls.

For the remaining part, it flows merely westerly through the Murchison Falls until it reaches the very northern shores of Lake Albert where it forms a significant river delta. After leaving Lake Albert, the river continues north through Uganda and is known as the Albert Nile until it exits Uganda and enters South Sudan.
