Enjoy this exclusive Southern Tanzania safari to Ruaha National Park, Tanzania's largest vast wilderness in the south-west of the country visited by only a handful of travelers each year. At the park's heart is the aptly-named Great Ruaha River, a massive watercourse that dwindles to only a few pools in the dry season, but bursts its banks and roars over boulders at the height of the rains for game viewing and walking excursion. During the safari, you will stay at Old Msembe Banda, in the areas where you will see the rare sable and roan antelope as well as small and large mammals including a variety of reptiles and bird species. Usambara Trails Expedition will take care of everything from transfer, food, and accommodation and all you need to do is to enjoy and make memorable memories!
During this safari, you will stay at Old Msembe Banda.
You will enjoy and experience nature, wildlife, habit, and habitat of the fauna and flora in the natural areas, also peoples and culture.
Pick up from the place of your stay in Dar es Salaam and transfer to Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in time for a scheduled flight to Iringa Town by Air Tanzania, which flies three times a week. Upon arrival, meet with your safari guide and have lunch at the restaurant in town. After lunch, you will drive to Ruaha National Park for about three hours where you will arrive in the evening with sunset game en route to the camp/lodge. Dinner and overnight will be at the Old Msembe Banda.
Breakfast followed by a game viewing drive in the park. A fine network of game-viewing roads follows the Great Ruaha and its seasonal tributaries, where, during the dry season, impala, waterbuck, and other antelopes risk their life for a sip of life-sustaining water. And the risk is considerable: not only from the pride of 20-plus lion that lord over the savannah, but also from the cheetahs that stalk the open grassland and the leopards that lurk in tangled riverine thickets. This impressive array of large predators is boosted by both striped and spotted hyena, as well as several conspicuous packs of the highly endangered African wild dog. Dinner and overnight will be at Old Msembe Banda.
After breakfast, wilderness walking safari with the guidance of an armed ranger takes two hours. Walking safari will give you a particularly intimate feel for the African wilds. It starts in the morning, after walking, meet with your vehicle and proceeds with game viewing drives in the park, which is known to be one of the more natural, unspoiled as well as one of the largest parks of Africa!
Look for roan and sable antelope, hippo, crocodile, waterbuck, reedbuck, and buffalo venture to the river's edge to drink, attracting the attention of lion, leopard, hyena, wild dog and jackal, and many more antelopes including dik-dik. There are many birds in the park include Eurasia migrants that come to visit the park twice a year. Dinner and overnight will be at the Old Msembe Banda.
You will wake up early morning for breakfast and transfer to Iringa Town in time for your scheduled flight back to Dar es Salaam by Air Tanzania.
For many years, tourism in Tanzania was confined to either the northern game sanctuaries or along the coast. Recently, however, there has been a growth of interest.in the southern circuit, which has large unexploited areas of beauty and wildlife to offer. Safaris to the south are becoming increasingly popular. The area’s isolation is in fact, part of its attraction.
Those who wish to avoid the well-worn tourist routes head for Ruaha National park, the Selous Game Reserve, or the Scenic southern Highlands. Another advantage of using Dar-Es-Salaam instead of Arusha as the base for an itinerary is the relatively easy access to the coast and Islands. It is, therefore, quite feasible to combine coastal, historical, and wildlife itineraries on one circuit.
