Unlike most other Ugandans, many Karamojong shuns western style clothes and instead wear "traditional" dress of blanket-like shawls, often in red and black. The women wear elaborate beadworks. Quite often, the Karamajong are willing to perform their dances to the visiting tourists. Although the jumping dance is the most unusual and best-known dance, there are plenty of other traditional dances that the Karamajong perform. Karamajong dances are very structured and are performed for certain occasions. A true Kajong dance is something not to be missed.

This safari will take place in Kidepo Valley National Park, Uganda. Kidepo Valley National Park lies in the rugged, semi-arid valleys between Uganda’s borders with Sudan and Kenya. Gazetted as a national park in 1962, it has a profusion of big game and hosts over 77 mammal species as well as around 475 bird species.
Kidepo Valley National Park is Uganda’s most isolated national park, but the few who make the long journey north through the wild frontier region of Karamoja would agree that it is also the most magnificent and ranks among Africa’s finest wildernesses. From Apoka Safari Lodge, in the heart of the park, a savannah landscape extends far beyond the gazetted area, towards horizons outlined by distant mountain ranges.
Daily breakfast will be served for you during the safari. In addition, 4 lunches, 4 dinners, and mineral water (in the safari vehicle) will also be provided for you. Uganda Flying Safaris is more than happy to pass on special dietary requirements to the hotels or lodges on your behalf.
