The park has 95 species of animals with 610 species of birds. It also has a number of crater lakes that some of them are salt mining lakes.

Day 1: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Early morning after game drive, you will travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is the second largest national park in Uganda located western side of the great rift valley. The drive will take you through beautiful countryside of the country.

You will enjoy the beautiful sceneries of Uganda’s beauty, through Fort Portal road and you shall expect to have your lunch in Fort Portal town, until you reach the park in the evening. Tonight, you will stay at Mweya Safari Lodge.

Day 2: Early morning game drive

After your breakfast at the hotel, you will start your day with an early game drive within the park. This will be done on Kasenyi area which is a “home where animals breed from." It is a good site, designed place by the park authorities to carry out game drive from.

There you can expect to see animals like the African buffaloes, elephants, waterbucks, warthogs, Uganda kobs, lions, and leopards. You can also expect to see a number of bird species because the area has over 610 bird species.

Come back for lunch, after lunch, you shall have a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel. There you shall see animal that will come to take water on the channel and it will help you to see animals that you might have missed on your game drive.

You shall also be able to see animals like hippos and lots of crocodiles. You can expect to see birds like the pelicans, king fishers, cormorants, African darta, African fish eagles, and many other flocks of birds like the yellow billed stalks, black crakes, herons, African jacana, egrets, and many others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Departure

Transfer to airport or to Kampala city. End of safari.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Entebbe International Airport (EBB). Transfer from and to the airport is included. Tristar Africa Skimmer Safaris will pick you up from the airport.

Arrival by car

  • Mweya Safari Lodge is approximately 420 kilometers from Kampala and involves a journey of some six hours taking in a scenic route of rural Uganda.
  • From Kampala road branch off to Entebbe road, until the Clock Tower junction, where you may join and follow Queen’s Way until you reach Kibuye round about.
  • From there, take the exit to join Masaka road and follow the road to Busega round about.
  • Take the first junction on your left and keep on driving past the following towns and landmarks: the Equator line, Masaka, Mbarara, Itendero, Bushenyi, Ishaka, Rutoto, Bunyaruguru, Kicwamba, Kyambura, Katunguru Bridge, Katunguru Trading Center, Katunguru Gate, Kabatoro Gate (the second entrance to Queen Elizabeth National Park).
  • From there, where you see the sign post for Mweya Lodge, take a left and go onto the Murram road.
  • Continue driving through Queen Elizabeth National Park until you reach Mweya Safari Lodge.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 60% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
