On your first three nights, you will stay in Bukit Lawang. Moreover, you will stay in Berastagi on your fourth night. For the last two nights, accommodation will be in Samosir Island.


Day 1: Arrival in Medan

Your guide will pick you up at Kualanamu International Airport (KNO) and will take you to Bukit Lawang. It will take three to four hours of driving from Medan Airport Pass via Binjai and Kuala villages. Upon arrival in Bukit Lawang, check-in in the hotel.

Day 2: Jungle Trekking in Bukit Lawang

Today will be a full day jungle trekking starting at 8:30 a.m. from your guesthouse. You will spend six hours to explore the tropical rainforest. You will see some wildlife animals in the jungle like orangutans, gibbons, peacocks, squirrels, a variety

of monkeys, bird, insects, and plants.

Day 3: Tangkahan Elephants Trekking and Washing

Departing from Bukit Lawang towards Tangkahan and relax while enjoying the crystal clear waters of the river. There are hidden airpanas for some people, and occasionally you can see large wild fish in the river. There is also a waterfall. You will trek to see the elephants and wash them in the river. After this activity, you will return to Bukit Lawang in the hotel.

Day 4: Tangkahan - Berastagi

This day, you will go to Berastagi. The trip will take five to six hours of travel. You will stay overnight in Berastagi.

Day 5: Sipisopiso - Lake Toba / Samosir

After breakfast, you will head for Lake Toba by passing Berastagi and stopping in to see the fruit market. Then you will move towards Sipisopiso Waterfalls. Arrive at Lake Toba in the afternoon and you will cross the lake to get to Samosir. You will stay overnight in Samosir.

Day 6: Samosir Island

After breakfast, you will start the tour around Samosir Island. Visit the Ambarita Village and Simanindo to see the Batak Museum and the Batak traditional dance performance at 10:30 a.m. After the performance, you will visit another village to see sarong / ulos or Batak blanket maker. You can stop for lunch before going back to the accommodation in the afternoon.

Day 7: Depart Medan

Transfer back to Kualanamu International Airport (KNO) which will take six to seven hours. This will be the last day of your tour with Trekking Orangutan Sumatra.

LEUSER National Park

Sipisopiso Waterfall is an amazing waterfall located in Tongging. It is 35 kilometers away from Kabanjaahe, the capital city of Karo Regency. The waterfall runs out from the steep ravine wall,120 meters high. The water runs to the river, flowing to Lake Toba.


Covering the area of 1,265 square kilometers, Lake Toba is the largest one in South East Asia and the longest lake in the world. The lake confines 90 kilometers long. Lake Toba is located in the middle of North Sumatera Province with a cool climate and astonishing panoramic view. For years, this lake has attracted tourist and developed to be a highland recreation resort with comfortable image and impressive tradition touch of Batak Toba.

Samosir Island

The Samosir Island is the original place of the Batak Toba tribe. Many historical sites are found in this island as well as homemade clothes, especially the Ulos, the traditional woven cloth of Batak tribe. Tuktuk is has become an international tourist village on Samosir island.

Almost all tour agendas end up in Tuktuk, the most lively village having complete facilities yet still it has a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. The dance of Sigale-gale doll is demonstrated in Simandio. These dolls are moved by using strings and rotating shells through a complicated mechanism.

BERASTAGI Karo Highland

Berastagi is located in the chilly mountainous area, 1,300 meters above sea level. It is 66 kilometers away from Medan or it takes 1.5 hour drive. It used to be a health-resort in colonial time. Now, it has turned out to be a comfortable recreational area. This area is surrounded by two active volcanoes (Sibayak - 2,172 meters and Sinabung - 2,417 meters).

Those two active volcanoes made this area fertile to cultivate for the local farmers. The availability of fruit-market offers interesting sensations for visitors to shop fresh vegetables. There is also sulfur hot-spring which is located in Debuk-Debuk village (mountain spirit), with swimming pools and inns for the public.
