It is only in Ngutuni Sanctuary at the west edge of Tsavo East National Park, where you can do a night game drive legitimately and conveniently and see a lot of resident animals, including many big cats, at very close range in day and night time.
Ngutuni Lodge is a luxury safari lodge located in the heart of a 10,000 acre private game sanctuary, surrounded on three sides by Tsavo East National Park. The lodge overlooks a water hole and is set against the spectacular backdrop of the Sagala Hills, only two hours and 30 minutes from Mombasa.
Ngutuni Lodge has 48 guest rooms, each sleeping up to three people in one single and one double bed. Many of the guest rooms have interconnecting doors, making the lodge ideal for families and larger parties.
All of the rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished, with en-suite shower rooms. Private balconies overlook the large water hole, which is illuminated at night for evening game viewing.
The lodge has a shop selling camera film, batteries, suntan lotions, personal necessities (ie. toothbrush/paste), safari clothing, sunhats, maps and African themed gifts.
Departing from your hotel in the morning, at 7 a.m., you will be driven to the edge of Tsavo East National Park for a morning game drive in Ngutuni Sanctuary until time for lunch.
In the afternoon, a further game drive on your Kenyan Safari awaits you until 6 p.m., when you will go back to the lodge for refreshments. Being the only place you can do night game drives in the whole of Tsavo East National Park, you will depart for a night game drive at 7 p.m. for 1 hour and 30 minutes, getting back for dinner and overnight at your lodge.
This night game drive will allow you to see the nocturnal animals, mostly the cats like the elusive leopard, lion, cheetah, jangle, porcupine and more. It also is home of other most of the larger mammals, vast herds of dust red elephant, buffalo, waterbucks, Lesser Kudu, Gerenuk, Hirola and the prolific bird life features many recorded species.
Today's meal plan is full board.
On this day of your Kenyan Safari, you will have tea or coffee and a snack early in the morning at 06:30, after which you would depart for morning game drive reverting for full breakfast then drive back to Kenya coast, arriving in your hotel time for lunch.
Kenya, famous for its vast grasslands of the Maasai Mara, is known as the "kingdom of lions". With less than 30,000 of these magnificent animals in the wild, now is the time to raise awareness and bare witness to the wild lion.
The lodge water hole attracts animals throughout the day and night. Soft illumination means you can enjoy watching animals through the night from the privacy of your balcony or during the daytime from the open plan bar and restaurant deck.
Morning and afternoon game drives in the sanctuary include riverside circuits beside the Voi River, Ngutuni Hill with its view point, and onwards into Tsavo East National Park.
At Ngutuni, guests dress for dinner (smart casual) and men must wear collared shirts and long trousers in the evening. Please feel free to wear shorts and t-shirts for breakfast and lunch.
Dinner offers a four-course menu (soup, salad, main course, dessert, and tea or coffee). Early dinners for children can be arranged. You will also find a social bar, open between 6:30 a.m. and midnight, where you can also enjoy entertainment.
Top Africa Safaris can provide special meals for particular dietary requirements but request advance notification.
