Explore scenic Africa and experience being close to the big five and other wildlife on this safari holiday at the Kruger National Park. You will spend time both at the park and The Safari Partners' own adjacent private reserve. Privately owned, the park conducts thrilling game walks and open vehicle game drives. Greenfire Bush lodge is situated in Balule Private Game Reserve within the greater Kruger National Park, an area where animals roam naturally and unrestricted. The tented Lodge blends into the bush and offers comfortable beds, en-suite bathrooms, a refreshing splash pool, and stunning views over the surrounding wilderness. You will be accommodated here during your first two nights.
Only 25 kilometers from the renowned Kruger National Park and within close proximity to Sabie, the lodge provides the ideal base from which to explore all of the attractions of Mpumalanga, Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Pilgrims' Rest, God’s Window, Graskop, Sudwala Cave’s, Kruger National Park, and many more. The lodge is spectacularly constructed on stilts in an indigenous forest overlooking the sparkling Sabie River.
A swimming pool, bar, and cozy lounge are provided for the guests' comfort. Self-guided nature trails on the property will take you through a variety of indigenous forest types where various animals, birds, and other wildlife can be observed. The bird hide offers exceptional viewing. A number of excellent road and mountain bike routes provide enjoyment for all levels of cyclists. River rafting trips can be booked on arrival. A variety of accommodation options exist. All meals are available. You will be accommodated here in the last two nights of your safari.
Departing from the Greenfire lodge Johannesburg at 06:30, you will set off on the scenic road to Mpumalanga. You will have a brunch stop in the historic Dullstroom before you wind your way down the Drakensberg escarpment and into the untamed Lowveld. The next two nights will be spent at the well-appointed Greenfire Bush lodge. Dinner will be cooked in the traditional manner over an open fire.
You will start the day with the customary coffee and rusks before setting off on a game walk. You will walk for approximately three hours in search of game, stopping regularly to learn more about the ways of the bush. A drifter's guide and tracker will lead you in all walks. You will return to the lodge for a late morning brunch after which you can relax around the pool and enjoy the surroundings. In the afternoon, you will have an open vehicle game drive which will turn into an extensive night drive.
Being in the bush at night will provide you the opportunity to view nocturnal animals, otherwise not normally seen. This evening, you will enjoy a hearty bush braai barbecue and sleep to the sounds of the wild.
Rising in the African sun, you will enjoy a hearty breakfast before setting off to explore the highlights of the Panorama route. The first stop will be to view the impressive Blyde River Canyon, then on to Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Gods' Window, and the cozy little town of Graskop where you will enjoy, at your own expense, lunch at Harry’s Pancake Bar. In the afternoon, you will descend the Kowyn Pass to a traditional village where you will spend some time with the local Shangaan people.
After a full day, you will make your way to the Greenfire Lodge Hazyview, a log cabin built spectacularly on stilts in the indigenous forest on the banks of the Sabie River, where you will spend two nights.
You will depart early at sunrise and travel a short distance to enter the southern sector of the Kruger National Park for a full day of game viewing. Slowly traversing in search of the many animals that inhabit this area, you will enjoy the high vantage point and comfort of the well-equipped vehicle. Although you will spend most of the day game viewing, you will also stop at various designated sites to stretch your legs, to enjoy brunch, and to wander around one of the park's rest camps. Late in the afternoon, you will exit the park and return to the comfort of your Greenfire Lodge Hazyview.
After a relaxed morning, you will depart to arrive in Johannesburg in the late afternoon.
