Day 1 - 2: Mkuze Game Reserve, South Africa

Departing from Johannesburg at 06:30, you will travel through the rolling plains of the Highveld before descending the escarpment into the heart of KwaZulu-Natal where you will stay in Mkuze Game Reserve. The reserve was established in 1912 and has a large diversity of natural habitats. This diversity of habitat means plentiful game and abundant bird life.

Mkuze Game Reserve is part of the Greater iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a world heritage site. You will explore the reserve on game drives and visit a hide overlooking one of the waterholes to watch the game come down to drink. Mkuze Game Reserve plays a key role in the preservation of the endangered black and white rhino.

Day 3 - 5: Kosi Bay Nature Reserve, South Africa

You will visit Kosi Bay Nature Reserve which covers a region of fertile estuaries, mangroves, dune forest and tidal lakes. You will explore this amazing eco-system on foot and also snorkel at the estuary mouth. A special feature of the Kosi Bay estuary is the traditional practice of subsistence tidal trap fishing.

A local guide will lead you on a walk in the neighboring village where you meet local Zulu people. You will be introduced to their culture and customs. Leatherback and loggerhead turtles lay their eggs on the beaches at night in November to January, and an excursion can be arranged to view this beautiful natural occurrence (at an additional cost).

  • Accommodation in a chalet with daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Day 6: Hlane Royal Game Reserve, Swaziland

Hlane Royal Game Reserve is Swaziland’s largest national park. The chalet where you will be staying in is surrounded by beautiful African bushveld, dominated by knobthorn, leadwood and tamboti trees. In front of the camp, there is a waterhole where rhino and other wildlife come to drink. You will join a local ranger on a bushwalk, practice your game tracking skills and see fantastic bird life.

  • Accommodation in a chalet with 1 breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Day 7: Maputo, Mozambique

You enter Mozambique at the Namaacha border post and travel to Maputo, formerly known as Lourenço Marques. Situated on a natural harbor, Maputo is the economic hub of Mozambique. Once referred to as the “African Riviera”, Portuguese and African cultures meet in an exquisite blend of seafood and vibrant life. Taste the excellent seafood cuisine in a local restaurant (on your own expense).

  • Accommodation in a guest house with 1 breakfast and lunch

Day 8 - 10: Inhambane, Mozambique

Traveling north along the Indian Ocean coastline, you will drive through mango and cashew nut plantations enroute to the town of Inhambane. Explore Inhambane and its 200-year-old cathedral and visit the enchanting fresh produce market before moving to Praia de Tofu. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the warm sea and expansive white beaches. There you can find many optional activities such as dhow rides, scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing, and surfing (at an additional cost).

  • Accommodation in a casita with 3 breakfasts, 3 lunches, and 2 dinners

Day 11: Bilene, Mozambique

You will turn south along the coast to the town of Bilene which is situated on the shores of the crystal clear Uembje lagoon. The lagoon is 8 kilometers wide and 27 kilometers long with white, sandy beaches, and is separated from the Indian Ocean by a narrow strip of sand dunes. You will spend the afternoon exploring the lagoon with options of kayaking and snorkeling (at an additional cost), and swimming in the shallow, calm waters. You will stay in a lodge resort in Knysna which is nestled on a tranquil lagoon, for two nights. "Hi, Craig. We returned from our trip to Africa yesterday. I don’t even know if I can adequately explain what we experienced. Fortunately, you have done this, so you know what the trip is like. We had a lifetime of memories created on this trip. I felt like I was in a National Geographic documentary. What a great time! The logistics were all as you said. Everything was well organized, on time, and the service throughout the trip was outstanding. While the Botswana safari experience is a bit more expensive than other safaris, there is no doubt that they do it right and you get a truly authentic safari. Thank you very much for arranging the trip. Everything went very smoothly. We had a wonderful time."

"Hugo, we are back and recovering from the long journey home. I wanted to send you thanks for the lovely treats we found at the Cape Grace. That was so thoughtful of you. We are in love with South Africa! Although there was heavy rain at Babylonstoren, the accommodations were first class, plus the food and staff were marvelous! Our wilderness touring guide, Charlie Ratcliffe, was terrific. He even arranged for the clouds to disappear on Table Mountain! Now we only have about 2000 photos and are relishing the memories! You are the expert at this, and we are so thrilled we had your help in planning it. Thank you."

"I have been meaning to write to say that you are a true magician. The trip was spectacular, with every detail beautifully arranged from start to finish. We could not have had a more perfect trip. I never use travel agents, because they never understand what I want. But I would use you, (and also return to Onguma / Etosha), in a heartbeat. Truly, I can’t thank you enough for pulling an amazing rabbit out of the hat, at the last minute. It was truly extraordinary. Many, many thanks!"
