Tanzania Vacation Operation invites you to join their 12-day safari tour. This safari package will give you enough time to experience great national parks in both Kenya and Tanzania before proceeding to Zanzibar for a beach holiday, Zanzibar is an idyllic beach holiday island and clear blue waters.
The accommodations will be in midrange lodges and hotels as outlined in the itinerary.
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and transferred to the After 40 Hotel for your overnight stay. You will be booked into this hotel on a B&B basis. If you arrive early enough, you can go on a tour of the town and experience some of the local culture.
Today you will be picked up from the hotel and driven to the famous Masai Mara Game Reserve via the Great Rift Valley (lunch will be eaten en route). Upon arrival, you’ll go on an afternoon game drive until you arrive at the lodge around 5-6 p.m. Your overnight stay will be at Sopa Mara Lodge. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinking water will be provided.
The Masai Mara is home to the “Big Five” and is the best place to witness the Great Migration from July to November.
After breakfast, you’ll go on a game drive in the Masai Mara. Your overnight stay will be at the Sopa Mara Lodge. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinking water will be provided.
The Mara is situated in the southwest of Kenya and covers an area of 1,510 square km (583 square miles). This is a land of breathtaking vistas, abundant wildlife, and endless plains. The reserve is home to an excellent year-round concentration of game, including the more than two million wildebeest, zebras, and other antelopes that make up the famous Great Migration.
After breakfast, you will drive to Isebania on the Kenya-Tanzania border to get your visa and then drive to Serengeti National Park for a game drive. Your overnight stay will be at the Kati Kati Camp.
The endless Serengeti plains are the setting for the world’s greatest wildlife spectacle—the 1.5 million wildebeest migrating in search of fresh pastures. Each year they trek over 2,500km under the threat of some of Africa’s greatest predators. Depending on the time of your visit, your driver-guide will be able to share with you where the herd’s current location is in the park.
After breakfast, you will proceed with your game drive in the Central Serengeti. Your overnight will be at the Kati Kati Tented Camp. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinking water will be provided.
Serengeti National Park is the world's last great wildlife refuge. It is home to an estimated three million large animals, most of which take part in a seasonal migration that is one of nature's wonders. The park’s area covers 14,763 sq km and the name Serengeti comes from the Maasai word “Siringet,” meaning endless plains.
After a half-day game drive in the Serengeti, you will drive to the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. Your overnight stay will be at the Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinking water will be provided.
There are several resident lion prides within a one-hour drive of the Seronera. During the dry season, these prides begin to shift north and west and concentrate in the central region of the park. This makes the dry season a great time for seeing lions. The Central Serengeti is also one of the best areas in Africa to spot the elusive leopard. You may be lucky enough to encounter this majestic cat in the branches of the sausage trees that dot the banks of the Seronera River.
After a 6:30 a.m. breakfast, you’ll descend into the crater for a game drive. Later in the day, you’ll drive to Arusha and then make your way to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight to Zanzibar. Your overnight stay will be at the Tembo Hotel. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinking water will be provided.
Often called the eighth natural wonder of the world, the Ngorongoro Crater is the largest intact crater in the world. About two million years ago the Ngorongoro volcano erupted and then collapsed. The sinking volcano floor created a natural enclosure with 600 m tall walls.
Now, over 19 kilometers wide, the Ngorongoro Crater is filled with great areas of acacia forest, hippo-filled swamps, and open grasslands. These different habitats contain over 30,000 animals —including elephants, warthogs, flamingoes, magnificent birdlife, the rare black rhinoceros, and all the predatory cats. The Maasai people can also be seen grazing their cattle alongside the buffalo and wildebeest.
At 9 a.m., you will be picked up from the hotel and taken on a tour of Stone Town, where history appears to stand still. You’ll visit the House of Wonders, the palace museum (People's Palace), Dr Livingston's house, and the Arab fort (among other locations). You will see Zanzibar's bustling market, winding alleyways, ornately carved and studded doors, two cathedrals, and countless mosques.
After lunch, you will be taken by boat to Prison Island to see the turtles and go snorkeling. Later you will make your way to the Z Hotel for your overnight stay.
Today you will be picked up and transferred to Nungwi in northern Zanzibar for a beach excursion. Nungwi is renowned for being one of the best beaches in the world. You will spend several days here and then return to the Z Hotel again for your final night.
Today you will be transferred to the Zanzibar airport for your flight back home.
