Connect with nature in a place where the endless forests, winding rivers, and all the flora and fauna meet. If you are adventurous and would like to visit the Madre de Dios and Tambopata Rivers, this tour is just for you. During this tour, you will get to see various birds and nocturnal animals. During this tour, your accommodation will be at Enashawa Lodge.
Pick up from the airport or bus stop and transfer to the Tambopata headquarters office where you will meet your guide and receive information about the activities. Then you will be driven for around an hour towards the Infierno Native Community and have lunch on the bus.
From the community’s port, take a 30-minute boat ride to Enashawa Lodge. Soon after, you will go for a walk in the rainforest to learn about the ecosystem and try to spot some animals like monkeys and birds among the majestic trees that surround the lodge.
At night, you will go for a night walk looking for nocturnal animals like frogs, insects, and birds. Dinner and rest afterwards.
Wake up call and breakfast will be at 4:30 a.m. Then take a one-hour long boat ride up the river until reaching the lake’s entrance. You will walk along this trail for approximately half an hour, enjoying the flora and fauna of the lake’s ecosystem.
Once at the lake, your guide will take you for a tour by catamaran, trying to spot different species of monkeys, birds, reptiles, and the family of giant river otters that inhabit the lake and make it one of the best preserved lakes within the Tambopata National Park buffer zone.
Then head back to the boat, have a quick snack, and go visit the claylick 10 minutes away, where it will possible to see colorful Macaws and other members of the Psittacidae family flying around and eating clay along the banks of the Tambopata River. At 11:30 a.m., return to the lodge to enjoy your lunch.
After a well deserved rest, you will visit the Botanical Garden where shamans from the Ese-Eja Native Community will explain about the medicinal plants that grow in the garden and its traditional uses. At night, you will go for a boat ride looking for black and white caimans along the river banks. Dinner and rest afterwards.
At 9 a.m., visit the Ese-Eja Native Community of Infierno 20 minutes down river from the lodge. You will be received by people from the community and invited to one of their cabins where they will tell their stories, traditions, and language and show you their dances and customs. Enjoy lunch at the community.
In the afternoon, you will visit a local farm and learn about the local fruits and crops like cocoa, starfruit, mandioc, and more. Dinner and rest afterwards.
Wake up early to visit the Parrot and Parakeet Clay Lick where different members of the Psittacidae family will be flying around and feeding from the clay. Then return to the lodge and get ready to go back to the city and finally the airport.
Your daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included in the price during this tour.
