During this safari, you will be staying in various accommodations across Tanzania.
For the first night of your safari, you will be enjoying your homely accommodations at Maramboi Tented Camp.
Enjoy your second overnight stay at the famous Lake Manyara Safari Lodge. Grouped around a central vanishing horizon pool, this highly unusual lodge features a timbered reception area, built in traditional African style which is accessed via a bridge over a small stream. Beyond the reception lies the central dining room, bar, and veranda, below which lies the pool. Dotted around the grounds, all with views over the lake, are a series of circular two-story rondavels which house the rooms.
Designed to reflect the brilliance of Lake Manyara's unique birdlife, the architectural motif melds swooping avian curves with the gentle concentric patterns of traditional Maasai bomas while the vibrantly colored wall frescoes depict the intricacy of bird migratory patterns. Facilities include one king size or twin beds for a double room., telephone, Wi-Fi, bathrobe, slippers, mineral water, toiletries, and laundry, valet, and shoeshine services.
From the third to sixth safari night, you will be staying at Serengeti Ang'ata Tented Camp. The Ang'ata are mobile camps situated in Tanzania's most beautiful national parks and conservation areas. The camps are designed to offer the highest quality accommodations one would expect from a tented lodge. The Serengeti camp is a large camp with 12 large guest tents including a two-tent family unit, a lounge, and a dining tent. Each guest tent has an en-suite bathroom with shower.
It also has a vanity desk and flush toilets. Depending on request, a king size bed or twin beds are available. The lounge is the place to meet other travelers and share your day’s safari stories while enjoying a complementary cup of Tanzanian coffee or tea. Breakfasts, lunches, and dinners are served in the dining tent, freshly prepared by the chefs on a daily basis. The camp fire is lit when the weather permits.
For the last safari night, you will be staying at Ngorongoro Ang'ata Camp. It is the smallest camp with guest tents, including a two-tent family unit, a lounge, and a dining tent. Each guest tent has an en-suite bathroom with shower, vanity desk, and flush toilets. Depending on request a king size bed, twin beds, and triples are available.
After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park. You will have a full-day game drive in the park. During the safari, you will have the chance of quietly observing many families of elephants interacting. With a stop for a picnic lunch in an observatory inside the park, you will be able to view animals drinking water in the river and continue game viewing before you finally return to the campsite for dinner and your overnight stay.
You will depart after breakfast and drive across the Great Rift Valley to Lake Manyara National Park for a full-day game drive.
You will visit the famous Serengeti National Park, home of the great migration. The game drive is spectacular as you drive up the Crater Highlands, stopping at the rim. Continue on, spreading out is the vast Serengeti.
On these two days, you will be driven across the Serengeti vast plains in search of the migration. The location of the migration depends on the time of the year and could be as far as the remote north of the Serengeti near the border with Kenya or it could be in the south Ndutu area.
You will have an early morning safari before breakfast to spot the animals when they are more active and also to have a fantastic sun rise in front of you. After the game drive, you will return to the camp for brunch, followed by a transfer to Ngorongoro.
Very early in the morning, you will descend down to the crater floor for a day of wildlife viewing in one of the most incredible places on earth. After a stop for a picnic lunch near the hippo lake and more wildlife viewing in the afternoon, you will drive up the steep road out of the crater and return to Arusha.
This safari will take place in Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Serengeti National Park, and Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Ngorongoro Crater.
Tarangire has a diverse landscape. Ancient Baobab trees, the largest trees in Africa, dot the landscape dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. The Tarangire River that meanders through the park attracts an abundance of wildlife from elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, and antelopes, to a variety of colorful birds. The park is very famous for having the greatest elephant population in Tanzania.
The enchanting park is noted for its beauty and incredibly lush acacia forest of giant fig and mahogany trees which are home to troops of baboons and blue monkeys. The park is also home to large numbers of buffaloes, giraffes, elephants, impalas, and a hippo lake where large numbers of hippos usually gather.
Well-known for its birds, Lake Manyara is one of the few places where you will be able to see the ground horn bill and the crested eagle. The park has become famous for the the climbing lions and the flamingos in the lake shore. The game drives are done along the shore of the lake, providing incredible views of animals in the foreground with the lake, flamingos, and flat plains in the horizon.
Serengeti means "endless plains" in Kiswahili and the 6,900-square-mile park is inhabited by more than two million large animals including more than a million wildebeest, hundreds of thousands of plains zebras, Thomson's gazelles, and large predators including lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. Many smaller animals like rock hyrax or monkeys also inhabit the area along with nearly 500 species of birds.
With walls 2,000 feet high and a crater floor that spreads for 102 square miles, the crater is a virtual Noah's Ark inhabited by almost every species of wildlife indigenous to East Africa.
This includes the rare black rhino. In fact, the crater has the greatest concentration of wildlife in the planet. It contains a river and several swamps which, from the top, looks like steam. The park is also full of flamingos. The breathtaking park is actually a forest with open plains. The large bull elephants that reside there have extremely large tusks due to the rich mineral content of the volcanic soil and its grasses.
During this safari, all meals will be provided for you by Tai Safaris, including a bottle of mineral water daily. The food served in all of the safari lodges and tented camps in the team's portfolio are of the highest quality. At certain lodges, gourmet cooks bake fresh bread and produce soup, salad, and entree that could easily grace tables at top restaurants around the world. Meals are international in flavor with cold meat, pasta dishes, fish, and other starch.
Tai Safaris prefers to use camps and lodges that opt for good, wholesome, home-style cooking at elegantly set dining tables sometimes under the stars, sometimes under thatches or canvas so that guests can discuss and debate the day's events with their guides and fellow guests and enjoy the company of the others. Meal times are geared around the best game viewing times and other activities specific to a particular camp.
Your day will normally start with coffee, tea, and biscuits before the morning activity. You will return to the lodge or camp late morning when brunch will be waiting. Buffet brunches are typical with a warm dish such as stew served with salad, quiches, and cold meat.
Cereals, fruits, bacon, eggs, sausage, and toast are also usually on offer. Cake and tea are served before the afternoon activity. Dinner consists of an appetizer followed by meat, fish, or pasta dishes served with assorted vegetables and sauces. This is followed by coffee and tea, cheese, and sinful desserts!
Please book your flight to arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR). Transfer from and to the airport is included. Tai Safaris will pick you up from the airport.
