Your first night will be at Le Polonia Hotel or Hermes Place Hotel, your next two nights will be at Mega Inn, your fourth and fifth nights will be at Bukit Lawang Cottages or Rindu Alam Hotel, and your seventh night will be at Sinabung Hills, Sibayak Int Hotel, or Grand Mutiara Hotel, and your eighth night will be at Toledo Inn or Tabo Cottages.


Day 1: Medan

Upon arrival at Kualanamu International Airport (KNO), you will be picked up by your tour guide and you will be transferred to the hotel, afternoon free at own leisure.

Day 2: Medan to Tangkahan

After breakfast, you will be picked up by your tour guide and you will then be transferred to town to visit Sultan Palace, Great Mosque, and the Chinese Temple. You will then drive to Tangkahan via Binjai and Batang Serangan. You will arrive in the afternoon at Tangkahan. Check in at Mega Inn.

Day 2: Tangkahan

After breakfast, you will walk to the elephant station. Afterwards, you may enjoy tubing through the river and a stop will be made at Fantastic Buluh Waterfall where you may enjoy the waterfall. You can enjoy sun bathing and swimming on the river and enjoy picnic lunch on the beach of the river.

You will arrive at the village in the afternoon where you can get in touch with local people and see the daily activities of the local people. You will return to the guest house where you can take a rest or visit hot springs and waterfalls nearby.

Day 4: Tangkahan to Bukit Lawang

After breakfast, you will leave Tangkahan for Bukit Lawang by jeep. You will be passing by plantation and jungle roads on the way. Enjoy the panorama and witness the activities of the local people. Upon arrival at Bukit Lawang, you will check-in to the hotel.

Day 5: Bukit Lawang

After breakfast, walk to the jungle to start exploring Leuser National Park with their flora and fauna. You will see orangutans on their own habitat and other kinds of animals such as Thomas leaf monkeys, long tail macaque, gibbon, black gibbon and other kind of flora and fauna of tropical rain forest. Tracking will take about three hours, afterwards, you can return to the hotel. Afternoon free at own leisure to enjoy the nature of Bukit Lawang where you can also walk to the village around the hotel

Day 6: Bukit Lawang to Brastagi

After breakfast, you will drive to Brastagi. You will have a stop at Sembahe River and you will pass Sibolangit before your arrival at Brastagi. You will visit Lhumbini Park and see its duplicate of Shwedagon pagoda. You will also visit the fruit market and Gundaling Hill. You will check in to the hotel in the afternoon.

Day 7: Brastagi to Samosir

After breakfast, you will drive to Samosir. On the way, you will visit Batak Karo, a traditional village at “Dokan”. You will have stops at the Sipiso-piso waterfall, “Rumah Bolon” (Long House), the old Palace of Batak Simalungun Kings, and at Simarjarunjung to enjoy the fantastic view of Lake Toba. After you arrival at Parapat, you will cross to Samosir Island by ferry boat where you will check in to a hotel.

Day 8: Samosir

After breakfast, you will have an excursion on Samosir Island by car, visiting several Batak Toba traditional villages at:

  • Ambarita: To see stone chairs and tables the old meeting place of Sialagan Kings.
  • Simanindo: To see Batak Toba traditional dances and museum.
  • Pangururan: To see the view of Lake Toba and Hot springs water.
  • Tomok: To see the old tomb of Sidabutar Kings

Along on this trip, it is also possible to stop at a school to see the activities of young children, visit the village where the people make traditional hand weaved crafts, and scenic places like the graves! By afternoon, you will return back to the hotel.

Day 9: Samosir to Medan

After breakfast, you will drive back to Medan via Pematang Siantar and Tebingtinggi. On the way, you will stop at several plantations, and it will take about five hours driving. You will be directly transferred to the airport to catch the flight to your next destination.

This safari will start from Medan and will take you to Tangkahan, Bukit Lawang, Brastagi, and Samosir, Indonesia.


Medan is the capital city of North Sumatra province, Indonesia. It is the largest city in Sumatra and the Indonesia's third most populous after Jakarta and Surabaya, with approximately 2.5 million people. Medan means 'field' in Bahasa Indonesia and Malay languages but the name actually originated from the Karonese word 'madan' which means to 'get better' or 'healthy'.

Bukit Lawang

Bukit Lawang is about three-hour drive by car from Medan. Its main attractions are the Orangutan rehabilitation center, crossing the Bahorok River and climbing steep, jungle-clad hills. It is located at the South of the Mount Leuseur National Park.


Brastagi is a lovely tourist town in the Karo highlands, 70 kilometers on the way from Medan to Lake Toba. Brastagi is famous for its flowers, vegetables and fruits.

Lake Toba

Samosir Island is situated in the middle of Lake Toba, is accessible by regular ferries from Parapat. The original home of the fierce Toba Bataks, the island has many sites of stone tombs and traditional villages. The village of Tomok, Tuk-tuk, Siallagan and Ambarita are noteworthy. As transportation, you can use motorcycle for a days adventure on the island.
