Svasara Jungle Lodge is an upscale, modern eco-friendly lodge for wildlife and nature enthusiasts, located at Kolara Gate of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve in north-eastern Maharashtra. The lodge has 12 en-suite rooms with luxury amenities for a remote location such as air-conditioning, 24-hours hot and cold water, power backup, satellite TV, minibar, safety lockers, tea / coffee maker, laundry service, doctor-on-call, pool, and spa.
The timings may vary slightly depending on the sunrise time, the naturalist at the lodges will share the exact details. Final permit issue, guide allocation, etc. is done at the gate. Please note that offroad driving, getting down from vehicles, and use of phones and flash are strictly prohibited.
Rishin has completed his masters in Ecology and Environmental Science. He is affably called a walking-talking encyclopedia! He is deeply interested and passionate about sharing his knowledge on the history, geography, flora, and fauna of India. An evening spent with him leaves the guests infused with energy to spend more time in the wild. Rishin is fluent in English, Hindi, and Bengali.
Although a techie by qualification, Prasun had his heart in wildlife and nature since his childhood. He hence quit his job from the technology field to explore greener pastures. He received his naturalist training at Sundarbans and worked there for a few years before joining the Svasara team at Tadoba. He is most passionate about birding. Prasun is fluent in English, Hindi, and Bengali.
Swarna is also nicknamed butterfly for his deep passion for studying and conserving the beautiful world of butterflies! In his tenure at Svasara he has successfully created a butterfly corner and insect watch activities at the lodge. He is a keen wildlife photographer himself and his work has been published in several wildlife magazines and websites. He also has enriching experiences of working on many field projects such as East Kolkata Wetlands Bird Studies, Herpetology Workshops, Tiger Census and many birding camps. Swarna is fluent in English, Hindi, and Bengali.
Bhautik is an adventure lover and a trained mountaineer. Before joining the Svasara team, he has worked for wildlife NGOs and travel companies. He has immense experience in field research, wildlife rescue, and census recording in Gujarat for population estimates of leopard, crocodile and different species of birds. He is a keen birder and photographer, and considers his passion to be able to identify the countless species of birds and reptiles. Hailing from hometown Vadodara, he is fluent in its local language Gujarati as well as English and Hindi.
Your safari will take place in Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, India. Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is a rare jungle jewel amongst India’s leading tiger reserves and national parks. It is affably called the 'Land of the Tigers', due to its high tiger density - recent estimates indicate around 72 tigers (60 in the core and 12 in the buffer) over a rich jungle spread over 625 square kilometers.
Visitors report frequent tiger and wild dog sightings and, in general, the park offers plenty of opportunities for close encounters of the wildlife kind which also include: leopard, sloth bear, gaur (Indian bison), rusty-spotted cat, ratel, Indian mouse deer, spotted deer, sambar, wild pig, four-horned antelope, flying squirrel, and more. Over 200 species of birds include the crested serpent eagle, honey buzzard, paradise flycatcher, grey-headed fishing eagle, the shy jungle fowl, and much more.
A delectable spread of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food (fixed meal menu) is served at the restaurant. Breakfast is a combination of variety and choices from the varied cuisine. Lunch and dinner are regional Indian, Chinese, and continental cuisine. Pure vegetarian and other special food requests are taken care of on prior information. Also kindly inform at the time of booking if you are allergic to any food.
Please book your flight to arrive at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport (NAG). Transfer from and to the airport is included. Svasara Jungle Lodge will pick you up from the airport.
The nearest stations are Warora Railway Station (51 kilometers or 32 miles), Chandrapura Junction railway station (90 kilometers or 56 miles), and Nagpur Junction railway station (100 kilometers or 62 miles). From Chandrapura Junction railway station, buses and taxis connect to Warora Railway Station, after which the district road connects to Chimur via Anandvan, Shegaon, and Kharsinghi.
